Another way to MAYBE get Turner would be in a 3 team with Boston, if Indiana would do it.
Boston: Favors, Jackson
Indiana: Smart, Okafor
Pels: Turner, Robert Williams
Everyone gets good value, Boston loses Smart but gets back a decent defender to take his spot in Jackson, clears our logjam at guard, and gives Indiana another big behind Sabonis, and an elite defender that can guard 1-4
Long shot, but would make sense for everyone

Boston's problem is they are overloaded at guard/wing and have nothing for a big.
They will have to sacrifice a piece to make it happen, and they really dont have much for salary matching besides Smart and Hayward.
If they want to go anywhere in the playoffs this year, that's exactly the type of trade they have to make

To match money for any decent big (would be in the 16+ million range), they would have to send out Theis, Langford, Poirier AND Williams, JUST to match salary
They would be gutting their entire team, and there's no team out there with the roster spots to absorb that lopsided of a trade.
They will have to send Smart or Hayward out in any deal for the big they need, there's no way around it.
Only other big that is available that they could get with just Theis and Langford would be Dedmon, but I don't know if he would fill that physical presence big they need.

The only thing with Dedmon is what do they have with him that they don't have in Theis?
He's not physical enough to bully people around which is what they need. Same with Gibson, he's just to small to be their answer.
Drummond would be perfect, I don't see why Detoit would want to take on Hayward's salary though even if it's expiring next season, but they may do it to sell it as getting an asset for Drummond

quote:Yeah, it may be a long play for the Pistons. If the market it not there, they could get an asset for Drummond and have a large expiring to hopefully use next year (or offseason) to try and pry a player from another team. If I were a Piston fan though, I would not be excited about having nearly $70 million tied up in Hayward and Griffin.

I just don’t think Indiana is giving up Myles Turner. At least not right now. Once they get Oladipo back they’ll make a run at the ECF.
I really don’t see us making a huge move. Maybe moving Moore. Knowing Bi and Zion will eventually make bank....I just don’t see Griffin swinging for the fences for a third max player just yet. I think he does eventually...whether that’s trading up in next year’s draft or the year after and hoping they get one to fall into their laps, or trading assets later down the line for a proven guy...regardless, I don’t think it happens for another couple of years. Griffin is definitely playing the long game. He knows BI and Zion are our stars but that eventually we will need another one to truly make a run.
We just need to be patient and realize that probably won’t happen this year or next year unless something crazy happens in the draft and we move up for Edwards or something (which has about a .1% chance of happening)

Jrue and Favors are the only guys I can see going out
Jrue’s value is near the apex, the time to deal him has really passed, but he can still fetch assets. Between his value, age, contract, and our window, it would make sense to deal him. Let these young guys get some run together and collect future assets/clear space. It will be tough for some to swallow but it makes a lot of sense
Favors makes sense due to his contract, obviously.

Zach Lowe looking pretty smart right now as he usually does. I don’t see any trades out there to give this team what it’s missing right now unless Josh Hart has a twin.

shite I'll just take some picks for Jrue and Favors at this point.
I'm sure we can get something decent for Jrue.

Time to trade Jrue. His value isn't going to get higher.
Posted on 1/24/20 at 9:40 pm to Unknown_Poster
Indeed. He had a great run here, great guy and teammate, just not a great player.

We have plenty picks
No real need to add more

Yeah that’s a believable trade honestly. Works well for everyone

No no you don't understand. Mid level first round picks and young flyer talent are more valuable than a great defender, good creator and scorer, and well-respected veteran all in one player that we have on contract for 2 and a half more years.
Don't get why yall want to completely fill the team with nothing but young players. That's not how the NBA works. We can't get rid of Jrue, Redick, and Favors just because they "dont fit the timeline"

Jrue to Miami for Waiters contract and a couple of their young guys would work for me. I'd love to see Herro on the court with Zion and Hayes in 3 years. No need for future picks

Jrue is just really bad most of the time. People swear to god he's Spurs era Kawhi on defense. He's left much to be desired this year. Especially off ball. He still can't shoot or dribble or finish. And constantly avoids contact while driving, thats why he never gets the calls.
Posted on 1/24/20 at 10:11 pm to Pelliveli
Jrue is very inconsistent shooting. More bad than good. His defense is what keeps people from completely giving up on him but at this point it’s just time. At least sometime from now til summer he’s gotta go while his stock is very high
