Would any media outlet have the balls to ask Zion about his weight?

First of all, I feel like Zion is never interviewed. It's weird that a star player is always so non-visible.

Seems like I hear some shite from punk arse Lebron like every other day.

But anyway, when will the media get a chance to ask Zion questions? And when they do, will any have the balls to ask him if his weight is holding him back?

Don't think he is required by the nba to give media availability while rehabbing.

So he or the team would need to make him available and neither will.

Now once he starts playing he is required by the NBA to give media availability at some point. Someone will ask outside of the local media. I'll give it to Fletcher too, he is the most likely in local media to ask.

Local media, absolutely not lol. Zion is purposely not being available for a reason. He isn't being interviewed and also did anyone else find it weird when the teams unveiled their city edition jerseys that Zion was not in a single picture

He couldn't fit in his jersey.

This is the right answer.

Why does it matter? Would it make you feel better to see him say no comment? Because that's the direction it would go, or maybe he'd make a prepared joke with his disarming Aw Shucks smile.

The bottom line is he's at a place where probably the only way he's going to get in game shape is playing for a few months. With his Rose Rule money likely on the line next year, I'm hoping we see a better prepared Zion next year. This year the milk has already been spilled.

I forgot who said it, but they said "you don't get in basketball shape by playing basketball, you get in shape to play basketball". That is accurate of every sport. Dude needs to take his offseason strength and conditioning serious or his career will be over soon enough without ever meeting any real potential.

Think about it. The last year he was healthy was as a senior in high school. Since that time, he has made a living off of highlights and potential. He was injured at Duke and in each of his 3 years as a Pel. That's no recipe for progression of a team when your star is not going through training camp with the team and missing significant time.

A team is built around its stars. If the stars dont play, then the team fails and that is unfortunately where the Pels are right now regardless of how much a magician Griff feels that he is with roster building.

If I'm not mistaken that ship has sailed on his Rose Rule Money. He needed to make all-nba this year and next to be eligible. Considering he's probably out until mid-December, I don't see him making it this year. Also, I don't see this team being a contender next year to fuel his MVP chances.

I believe the way it is worded, its 2 seasons, OR "the most recent" season. So if he gets it in his contract year he is ok.

Right. 2 years or the 4th year is how I remember it being worded. If he screws up next year he loses a lot of money which is bad for him and the Pels.

Thats just not true.

He was healthy at Duke. Him blowing out his shoe and resting him after was just a precaution. He was literally dunking from the free throw line at Duke.

Also, he was healthy last year. He might not have been at the weight the board wanting him to be but he was dominating the NBA even though he hadnt played a full seasons worth of games. He was living up to the hype. Was he perfect physically? No. Was he healthy? Yes.

Healthy is a subjective term. He has always been overweight while he has been here. I know he is explosive and an athletic freak. But a 6'6-6'7 basketball player should not weigh over 250lbs (he should really be down closer to 240). Even if he was 6% bodyfat and incredibly ripped, that is too much weight on the body, even if it's all muscle. He needs to slim down right away and keep the weight down.

I don't understand the counter argument to this debate. At 270-280lbs, which is where he was, people were saying he can play 60 games a year. Why would you intentionally want him missing games? If the weight restricts him, wouldn't it be better for him to be lighter?

New Orleans has to be the softest sports media in all of pro sports. They never ask the hard questions

That is not healthy for anyone playing any sport.

This was kind of close asking about his weight

I'm trying to figure out how the contract would work. There were 3 guys that signed rookie extensions this year (Doncic, Young and Porter JR). All 3 were 5Y with the potential of 207M. So are Rose Rule contracts just contingent on performance, escalate if they hit certain criteria?

If that's the case, Zion would just sign this summer. Then demand a trade later if he wants. If it is performance based, what is the risk or why would he wait?
