Speak for yourself. Why did you watch games at all this year then? At no point in the year did it look like we would win a title. That was never an option.

Because Zion getting playoff experience makes him a better player and is the best pathway to getting a title. If you don’t understand your best player getting playoff experience leads to the organization eventually getting to a title then I don’t know what to tell you.

The fact that you act like the 2018 pels/blazers first round brought you this immense joy just shows what kind of low expectations you have for this organization which honestly is nothing short of depressing.

People get pissed when they say what separates organizations like the heat, lakers or celtics from us- it’s exactly this. Our fans get excited about first round series wins while other fans find that as a failure. If WE as fans dont change our expectations then dont complain when they keep giving you the same mediocre product.

The 14th pick is so vital though! Remember Herb Jones? He was drafted 35th! Oh wait.

Zion is done until October so it doesn’t matter. We can’t beat OKC in a series without him. frick

What? Where in there did I say that Zion getting playoff experience is bad for the team/him? You're the one that wants the team to miss the playoffs I mean it's like you're not even able to follow your own line of reasoning at this point.

O gtfo don't try to turn your loser mentality on me when I'm the one who wants to see the team win while you're trying to pretend a couple spots in the draft matters more. That's more depressing than watching the team you root for win playoff games. How do you not understand that?

This has to be one of the worst arguments I've ever seen made on this board. What separates us from the Lakers, is that our fans got excited for a first round playoff win, as opposed to you, who want the team to lose. Damn, if we could all only be like you and ROOT AGAINST the team, we'd be true fans and then be just like the Lakers! Wow! It's like a veil has been lifted off my eyes and now I see the light on how to become a true fan and totally elevate this franchise and make them more enjoyable to watch. All I had to do was root against my team this whole time.

There's nothing we get from the playoffs without Zion that would be better than 7 slots higher in the draft IMO.

What a horrible take. Young guys like DD, Trey, Herb, and not that he would get much time, but Hawkins could use the playoff mins. It will make them better players in the long run and the team better.

You idiot I wanted to make the playoffs with Zion not without him. What the frick are you talking about??

Because LONG TERM it makes no sense to be in the playoffs without Zion. Not everyone is short sighted as you. You get a lower pick and in the grand scheme it does nothing for this team other than put money in Gayles pockets and less pressure to make actual changes.

What are you talking about lol. You’re spewing nonsense. What separates them are expectations. Pelicans fans expectations are low. The other teams fans are not. Period.

Im not rooting against my team- why can’t you understand that? Im saying its better long term if they don’t make the playoffs.

You’ve turned this from what ls better for this team long term to Im rooting against them.

Go get excited for the first round, then we lose and you can bitch and complain that this team won’t win a title. Rinse, wash and repeat.

Only reason he kinda hit a rookie wall is that dumbass WG pulled him. He was playing well and when TM3 came back Hawk went to oblivion. Shooters need to PLAY and not sit for 10-20 games

Hawkins will get dnps. Those guys are role players playing without the best player on the team. From a data perspective if you’re building around Zion that doesn’t really help you unless you feel those guys can become more than that. Honestly I dont.

Wrong, it’s best long term to be in the playoffs for player development.

And to top it off, look at Griffs history in the draft, the 14 pick matters when he’s taking players like Kira at 13 lol? Or passing on Garland for players like Jaxon at 8?

I think the 7 slots higher in the draft is more meaningful than losing a few playoff games without Zion.

Or he drafts the next Trey Murphy and Herb Jones. You pass it off like it's zero chance we draft someone that can be a rotation player.

We pressed the 1 seed Suns without Zion and a lesser squad. We’ve played a lot without Zion. Ya gotta beat the Kings first but I’d like to see how these guys step up, get the young guys some more playoff run. And we can actually watch the games on TV

This draft is pretty bad and we draft better without the pressures of a top of the draft pick anyway

Where has the player development from the 22 playoffs gotten us? 1 loss away from missing the playoffs for the 2nd year in a row

It’s why I said I doubt he gets much playing time. But I said on here months ago, outside of Zion, the two players that need to develop and that they should be concentrating on for this team to go where they want to go in the future is Trey and DD. And they both are healthy and would get playoff mins and likewise more experience.

What about organization development and making necessary changes??? Lets be honest we know who Herb and Trey are- we’ve seen them in this environment. Dyson is the only guy. Hawkins wont even play.

So now higher pick doesn’t matter because Griff has had some bad picks? If thats the case we should just do what Dell Demps does and trade every pick (which a higher pick matters in trading it too).

Where is the benefit from missing the playoffs last year and drafting Hawkins with the higher pick? A player with a bunch of DNP’s???

How did that help this year??

We did and we also had the benefit of Booker hurting his hammy as well- the guy who goes for 50 on us. I guess we can hope Shai gets injured and we push them to 6 games. By the way BI is playing like shite- no where near what he was playing during that playoff run.
