OK, I'll grant that it's close, and maybe the Kings and Wolves are slightly better than us without Zion, but it's not much. But we are 100% better than the Thunder right now, and asking if, once we get Zion back, we'll be better than them? Just silly.

Josh Hart has been AWESOME this season. You’re right, nobody has talked about it. But you could argue getting him back was more important than BI. Josh does so much for this team it’s unreal.

If the Pels can keep playing .500ish until Zion gets back on say December 8th, they probably have a decent chance of sneaking in the play-in.

I also would say if this team has turned a corner, Griff's seat is probably hot enough to trade a ton of picks for someone like Fox.

Current streaks in the West of the teams 6-10 in the standings:

#6 Portland - L2
#7 Lakers - L1
#8 Memphis - L2
#9 Denver - L6
#10 Minnesota - L1

The 7-10 teams have losing records right now. Right now, a .500 record is good for 6th place in the conference and avoiding the play-in.

One of the biggest reasons to be optimistic about our playoff chances is that it just doesn't look like it's going to be all that hard this year.

The Warriors and Suns are elite (and the Clippers will be when Kawhi comes back). The Jazz are good, the Mavs and
Blazers are above average, and then there are a ton of mediocre teams.

We'll probably lose more ground in the new few games, but that's fine, because when we get Zion back, we will be a top-six team in the West.

Seems like inserting Billy over Jaxson has given the 2nd unit a boost as well.

addition by subtraction.

billy is nothing to write home about. a journeyman.
appreciated by comparison.
tries. knows basics of his position. i suspect hayes was a demoralizing factor.

Any potential playin discussion aside, the December schedule is pretty soft compared to October and November. Should be good for Zion knocking the rust off and figuring out rotations with him back in the fold.

I don't think that has anything to do with the temperature of Griff's seat.

I mean, Griff has been trying to make a deal for a quality guard for a while. We were always involved in any rumors for Beal, etc. Griff tried hard to trade Lonzo for someone this past spring. He tried really hard this offseason to get one.

With Hart's contract, with the ease of using Sato and Temple's contracts, with the uselessness of Jaxson and Didi, we have plenty of dead salary we can use to finally get that guard at the deadline.

Right now, Fox looks like the most likely candidate, but someone else might look better in a month---we'll see. What's certain is that our Lakers picks have a much higher value than they did before the season.

And we have the $17 million trade exception to get someone back to replace whatever production we traded out.

The only way that Griff wouldn't try to make that deal for a lead guard is if we were actively tanking, and the only way that was going to happen was if Zion had a big setback.

Bump.

All y'all clowned on me when I posted this when we were 1-12. Only ATL didn't.

Fun Bunch, how was Kate Beckinsale in bed?

The funny thing is that most of my reasons for optimism were wrong.

check to see if I posted in the thread
sees that I posted twice in the thread
sees that I had relatively optimistic things to say ...

Man I feel like everytime a thread gets bumped and proved a lot of people wrong, I’m luckily never in them. Would have easily called you crazy and would be firing up the tank memes

Does anyone else find it calming to see Chad be so wrong so often across every board?

It’s like a peace you find when you know you can count on something. I always know he’ll be wrong, and I have no chance of ever being as wrong as him
