Haven’t had time to vet all these guys over the last few weeks. So, tell me why Pels Talk is so thrilled with this pick? What are his skills and how does he fit with our current roster?

Think of a better scoring Lonzo .

Great defender, unselfish, great passer, but unlike Lonzo, he can actually run a half court offense.

His weakness is shooting, but we have the Vingoat for that

We need a ball handler for our 2nd unit with some size. He fits the mold bc if you look at a team like Memphis they have the depth to wear out teams on a nightly basis, and play hard/annoying basketball ad nauseum.

Tall, lengthy guard. Can guard multiple positions. Elite play making potential. Good rebounder.

Seeing how Chris Paul went perfect against us…we needed him.

He is as good defensively in every category as Herb Jones.

He passes as good as Lonzo.

He has an elite runner/floater as CP3.

He needs to develop a consistent 3 or shot but his shooting form is textbook, just didn’t get the results this season.

Better scoring Lonzo from a finishing perspective? That was Lonzo’s problem. He couldn’t control the 1/2 court by making himself a threat to drive.

Dyson is definitely a better finisher at the same age. He has a nice floater too.

Can’t shoot for shite. (Although he shot way better in his last 9 games)

This, plus we have a miracle worker of a shooting coach.

A decent amount of Daniels’ issues with shooting are supposedly due to the G League using a different ball than they use in Australia IIRC

6’ 7” guard that plays 6’ 11” with his wing span. Great distributor of the ball and will be a thorn in the PG’s he’s defending. Led the league in steals and plays smooooth

Dyson Daniels scouting report.

He’s 3” taller than Lonzo
Wingy is 4” longer
Standing reach is + 4.5”

There is substantially more length here with Dyson

Honest opinion, I’ll accept the downvotes.

He didn’t look that impressive against sub-par talent. He looks slow to me. He is a great passer and great defender, good rebounder, mediocre scorer with a not good shot.

He’s also 19, and if he develops a shot, will be a solid role player. Far from the “best pick in the draft” though.

His game does remind me of Lonzo a little though. His shooting form is better at the same age, better in the half court and in transition. And no baggage.

He’s more comparable to Lamelo than Lonzo.

That’s why we got him
