Why did we sign a coach that no one wanted for the past 5 years and think that was good?

He was with the pistons in 2018-2019. I know math is hard but that’s less than 5 years ago

Why do people complain about Stan so much? He wasn’t that bad this season.

Honestly the depth didn’t come through this season. That has got to be fixed to win games.

The team paid a ton of money with the idea that players like Redick, Bledsoe, and Melli would be major role player contributors.

I would expect players like NAW, Hayes, and Lewis to take a big leap with a solid offseason.

He created Point Zion, motivated Jaxson Hayes and maybe saved the kid's career, turned NAW into a starter, and developed Kira and Naji. That good stuff was important.

The failures were with the old guys who just declined. I don't blame SVG for Bledsoe, Adams, and Redick for failing to live up to expectations.

But to answer your question: lots of people complain about Stan because of his politics and they hate liberals. Most of the hate really isn't about basketball, as is demonstrated by the many threads complaining about Stan's political tweets.

Same reason we gave up a first and a bunch of seconds to overpay a 90’s center….

Yes he was that bad this season. He wouldn't change the starting lineup outside of injuries, and it was obvious the starting line up wasn't getting it done.

Well I have no problem saying I was wrong but at the time I was excited because he literally was more successful than any coach in our franchise history.

A combination of things. He’s a little outdated, his personality is a bit off putting, and his politics are very very very very very very extreme and pretty far from most of this site. And it appears the players just don’t like him at all.

And...

He was very bad.

Knowing what we know now, the only reasonable change was naw for Bledsoe.

Because you can't make an argument for Kira nor can you make one for hayes/Hernangomez.

Keep in mind he did this with practically no training camp and hardly any practice time. I can't remember the podcast, but it was stated the Lakers on had 20 practices all season long. If we assume this was the case with every team, there's no wonder Stan couldn't get this team to figure out a defensive scheme.

And that's the problem with fans. Fans want change for the sake of change, but there were no sure fire replacements off the bench. NAW was even questionable the first half of the season due to his turnover woes.

Our big offering point to Zion when he’s due for the max contract is going to be “it’ll all be better now with our new head coach” after suffering through another season of Stan.
