Are fans not being told the full extent of the injury? Will it be another secretive thing like Zion's injury, which kept him out an entire season???

At this point, I don't think there's any issues on the medical side of things. It's now up to BI to decided when he's ready to ramp things up and play.

Honestly I think it has somewhat to do with the Pels doing a great job of keeping their head above water while he (and Zion) heals. Pels aren’t rushing either bc they don’t really have to.

You're gonna get a lot of answers in this thread, only one of them will be correct and that is this one:

None of us know.

I'm sure the organization knows. But all of us, we have no idea. Unfortunately, that's the answer.

It’s odd that we went from “might return on this road trip” to nothing. Would really suck if a toe injury ended his season.

He looked "normal" doing shoot around in Detroit. Pushing off is a big deal even for just basic shooting, so I don't think he would be shooting at shoot around if he had had another set back.

Here's a small article with quotes from Desmond Bane on what he had to deal with and what he is still dealing with his toe injury.

Kinda gives you a idea of BI situation.

I kinda thought that maybe he wanted to go through a full practice before returning to play, but the team had yesterday and today off, so this would have been the time to do that and then let him play tomorrow, so I don't understand.

I could be misremembering but isn’t this the same issue or similar one that kept him out of preseason?

Played in 40% of games last season and 20% this season. Would not be surprised if he ends up out for most of, if not all of, the season.
Totally prepared for a similar pattern with Zion and his hamstring after another 3 weeks of silence.
All Star players that show up half time (or less) over 3 yr periods kills the W-L and $$ expense columns …

At this point—they may just opt to hold him out until after the all star break.

The way they described the injury when it initially happened, it sounded like turf toe to me.

There’s varying levels, and coming back from it after it heals takes confidence.

I’m not sure BI has that confidence in it yet.

He’s probably got a bad turf toe that could keep him out most of the season. I hope not but if that is the injury it is very slow to heal.

it's one thing to be out x amount of time and everyone know around when that player is returning. it's another thing to initially say the dude is day to day with a bruise and then 1.5 months later your ESPN team reporter tweets this out

and now hes officially not returning during the 5 game road trip just a little transparency from the organization would be nice

Dude missed 40% of games last year.

He’s assured already to miss a higher percentage this year.

Dude just doesn’t play. I’m really frustrated with him. As far as I’m concerned he’s not untouchable.

This is my major gripe. They still call it a bruise in the official reports, which is quite obviously not the case at this point. They’re handling it just as poorly as they did Zion last year. Tell us the truth, give us a timeline, tell us how much work he’s even able to handle right now. Complete radio silence since the day of the injury is just fricking ridiculous when your major All Star who’s key to your deep playoff run hopes is missing for this long.

Clark confirmed tonight that he’s been told Bi is cleared to play but it’s up to him at this point
