I don’t want any Klutch player or a player that doesn’t want to be here. If Zion wants to be here it will be apparent and it will be HUGE for our organization.

Maybe I'm just naïve but I think he is fine being here. I'm not saying he has CJ or Josh Hart enthusiasm, but nothing that has come out so far, other than not initially reaching out to CJ in some way, has told me that he doesn't want to be here. I just don't believe all of the B.S. that is out there. Nothing has led me to really think that he doesn't want to be here.

Admittedly, it could all mean nothing but I don't think we talked enough about a couple of soundbites from Zion's stepdad's interview last week.

He said Willie Green was a walkoff home run hire, and he said Willie righted the ship. He basically said there were issues, but they're fixed now, that was the gist of it.

I'm taking that and riding with it!

I agree - hiring SVG was Griff's biggest mistake (and he's made plenty) and firing him after one season was Griff's best move.

The Pels just looked miserable last season. Exact opposite this season. SVG was called the "master of panic" for a reason.

But pretty much every Pels fan should not want to trade him and hope for a healthy Zion next year. He's going to get a ton of money but it's a risk the franchise needs to take. If he gets injured again then it sets the franchise back but if he's healthy, then you can become a contender.

This is not fair. He is hurt and has injury/health concerns. We have the right to talk and banter about every players role, history, fit and how we can improve the team. He is a major asset and would bring a nice windfall, if we made a move. Playing the loyalty card is disingenuous. We don't owe him that. We don't owe that to any player.

Back to the OP. I hope we could get a top 3 pick for him. I don't really count on Zion for next season. So adding two top 10 guys to our current group would be ideal..

Smart money says a healthy Zion is better than anyone in this draft...so the question becomes is he Embiid or Greg Oden?

Speculation over him wanting to be here is almost immaterial, as it is unlikely he would turn down max money. The same potential issue would also be a concern with whomever he would be traded for. If we have a healthy Zion for another 5 years, we have a chance to be special. Being special could change Zion and all others' view of playing in New Orleans.

If we think he can be a healthy player, you don't consider trades. If the organization has doubts to his ability to reasonably play 60+ games a year, then you explore what alternatives exist.

nursed a pretty questionable injury

This same injury has kept players like Simmons, Durant, Embiid etc out for a season or multiple seasons.

As long as we have CJ sitting right next to him, Zion is going to be just fine. Prepare yourselves for an amazing time as a Pels fan.

I do not believe there is any chance he is ever in optimum shape or plays anything close to a full season again. It's been 3 seasons and there have been multiple injuries. 60ish games does not cut it. Your cornerstone can miss a 1/4 of every season. I have no idea what is on his mind and don't really care. I'd do it now, while we have the best chance to get the biggest return.

I'd be fascinated to hear any reason why people believe he could turn this around.

This x1000. If we get a top 8 as well we are simply adding an extraordinary generational talent and a potentially very very good player into the rotation next season …on what is already a very very good squad.

I don’t know why anyone thinks we should trade him and tries to justify it with unsubstantiated rumours of him not wanting to be here

He has never been in shape. He is very injury prone. He is up for a huge extension.

There are 3 big ones off the top of my head.

Or… he’s had bad luck with 2 big injuries… and when he does play he puts up historic never seen before numbers.

So potentially he’s over his injuries, gets a good pre season in and completely smashes the league next year and leads us to the promised land

What would you put the odds on this happening? 50/50? Better? Worse?

He's never had someone with the influence of CJ telling him what he needs to hear either.

Also, you can tell he's starting to get serious, kid couldn't even run for months and yet he's still looking like he's in better shape than he was at any point he played last season.

Sometimes when you've just gotten by on raw athleticism your whole life you need a couple wake up calls.

50/50 sounds about right to me.
the team will know soon enough whether the odds are better or worse than that
