I'm sure some interesting things happened in the league. I just don't really care much anymore. It's probably time for someone else to start these weekly threads -- someone who pays attention and can start the thread with an interesting observation or comment.

Sacramento won 40 games. That's pretty good.

I don't understand the playoff tie-breakers.

Pelicans are listed as the 12 seed right now...but there is a 4 way tie for 9th at 33-35

9. Jazz 33-35 (21-22)
10. Thunder 33-35 (20-23)
11. Lakers 33-35 (19-22)
12. Pelicans 33-35 (22-18)

Pels have the best Conference record of the 4 teams which should be the first tiebreaker in a 4 way, right?

If not, then it is head to head to head to head which gets really fricky:
Pels are 0-3 vs Jazz, 3-1 vs the Thunder, 1-2 vs the Lakers so 4-6 overall

Jazz are 3-0 vs Pels, 2-0 vs Lakers, 1-2 vs Thunder so 6-2 overall

OKC is 1-3 vs the Pels, 1-1 vs the Lakers, and 2-1 vs the Jazz so 4-5 overall

Lakers are 2-1 vs the Pels, 0-2 vs the Jazz, and 1-1 vs the Thunder so 3-4 overall

Going by conference record it would be:
9. Pels
10. Jazz
11. Thunder
12. Lakers

Going by H2H2H, it would be:
9. Jazz
10. Thunder
11. Pels
12. Lakers

I don't see how the Pels can be 12.

ETA... 3/4 is the same as 4/6 so that would go to H2H...that is how Lakers are 11.

stick with it.
just do the weekly starter.
people will fill in with their observations.

no one is really up on the whole association.
i get sacto and gsw on local tv.
besides that I get tnt whatever they have.
unless someone is gambling no one pays attention to everything.

i would volunteer but my region is in the middle of a catastrophe and I've got no expectations of electricity from week to week. tonight comes a wind rain snow combo of 50 to 70 mph gusts so trees will fall on power lines.
last week it was snow so deep some regional people are just now getting plowed. i was 3 days without power during snowstorm.
onward.
hang in there.
people will be excited as the many close races finish the next couple weeks.
looks like the pels schedule may be enough to get to 7 at least and maybe 6th even without the two best guys. tm3 has arrived!

Yep, sounds like you got there:

LINK

If the tie breaker used creates a tie amongst two of the teams, the other teams get seeded and then they start over with a head to head of those two remaining teams. Let’s just hope we beat the Lakers and in no case are tied with the Jazz

Ja lost his Powerade endorsement.

In CBA negotiations, the league is looking to tie major awards to games played. This is obviously aimed at load management, but could be a big deal for higher level players who often have contract incentives/escalators tied to awards.

NBA, NBPA moving closer to agreement to establish rule that a player must play in a minimum number of games to be eligible for major awards as part of potential new Collective Bargaining Agreement, sources say.

Full details in The Bounce at @TheAthletic: LINK

Since most of load management is team driven, it will be interesting to see how this would change that. I think a player would be pissed if they missed a million dollar incentive because of games the team asked them to sit out.

Bottom line: The NBA has known EVERYTHING that Ja has been involved in...since he entered the NBA...and EVEN before he entered the NBA. Have recently heard several NBA-related folks including Barkley...say exactly that. The NBA doesn't play around...when it comes to this stuff. They have people on top of people on top of people...that do nothing but investigate & follow every aspect of a guy's life...once he gets on their radar. And the Grizz, of course, has been privy to everything the NBA knows.

FWIW: On another "subject"...I'd bet eleventy billion dollars that the NBA ALREADY knows EVERYTHING that happened regarding the Brandon Miller situation & I doubt they are taking the word of the UofA as to what went down. Whatever the guy did...or didn't do...the NBA will KNOW what happened. Like Barkley said the other day, "The NBA knows everything...everything"

two starters shot a combined 17 for 22.

8 for 11
9 for 11.

sometimes you get the bear.
sometimes the bear eats you.

i had a couple AAU games in which I did not miss a shot. just stepping into jumpers on the break.
open. boom.

it happens.

Ja Morant suspended for 8 games by the NBA, but is getting "time served" so he's out only 2 more games.

The NBA said they could not confirm if the gun was Morant's or whether he brought it on the team plane or team facilities, which makes sense, whether he did it or not if he wasn't caught, I don't see how you'd prove that after the fact.

Morant watched a couple HR videos in Florida and is no longer a drunk thug!

Congrats Ja!

I know it happens, even bad teams get hot at times. But we need to win these next two road games against the Rockets..

Houston has a ton of talent

If you look at the way they lose games. They often lose games in the 4th Q and it often looks intentional.

Part of that is youth. Part of that is a bad coach. Part of it is they are probably intentionally tanking.

They can beat damn near any team in the league though when they are clicking and trying to win.
