Their team as currently constructed has some DAMN amazing length to match up with NYK.
They're definitely pushing for a chance in the next 2-3 years, but their weakness is going to be shooting and spacing. Defensively I think they're gonna be elite.
PG: Mitchell (28), Smith (29)
SG: Powell (33), Larsson (25), K Johnson (25)
SF: Wiggins (31), Fontecchio (31), Jovic (23)
PF: Antetokounmpo (32), Portis (31)
C: Adebayo (29)
Interestingly enough will be Giannis, Portis both playing at C while Wiggins can move to PF, Fontecchio as well; Larsson and Powell have both played at SF.

Damn. I don’t often say this, but I wish I was from Milwaukee. They got a ring, several deep playoff runs and a great trade on the back end to kick start a rebuild out of Giannis.
Pretty perfect small market handling of the Giannis era, Milwaukee.

Powell is an UFA and Wiggins has a player option. Wiggins probably wants to negotiate to add additional years. They can resign Powell but they are now hard capped at the first apron with limited cap space and they need to sign additional players. They will probably have to move Jovic to free up space.
All that to say they have many more moves to make. I actually do not like the move for Miami. They are going to struggle to build around that duo.

Also, I hate to say this but I would rather be Milwaukee than Miami after this trade. They got a ring and a lot of good players from Giannis. I don’t see Miami beating the Knicks or even Boston with that roster let alone the Thunder and Spurs in the west.

I think Milwaukee easily wins the trade. Miami doesn’t have depth or a closer.
Giannis can’t close games bc he can’t make FTs. Plus he’s getting older and more injury prone.

Giannis really didn’t make waves to leave until recently but that’s the problem for most small market teams as it always seems to be a countdown when they leave not if. The media constantly writes articles wishcasting them to LA, NY, etc
At least they got a title out of it

Yeah Miami winning this was not the smartest move. Boston had more to gain by pairing him with Tatum.

Dude been threatening to leave since he been in the NBA
He was actually pretty happy there for the first 5 years. I think he realized he'd never build a dynasty there, nor get the kind of endorsements he could get in a Major Market

i thought Giannis' brothers would have been traded with him.

NBA trades happen just out of the blue a lot of times at odd hours it seems. I am doing the same, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened while a team is on the clock tonight
Posted on 6/23/26 at 10:00 am to IronJohn
Probably wouldn’t happen until said team is on the clock.
