Not sure if games played reduces pay, or just reduces guaranteed money in the event that he is waived (obviously very unlikely).
The way the Embiid deal was structured the guaranteed money went up each year. So the earlier you cut him the less guaranteed money you owed.
It was a 5/$147 contract with these conditions:
* If misses 25+ games or plays fewer than 1,650 minutes due to injury (back, feet) PHI has right to waive and reduce g'teed amount:
* $84.2 million if waived after 2018-19
* $98.2 million if waived after 2019-20
* $113.3 million if waived after 2020-21
* $129.4 million if waived after 2021-22

The money saved really doesn't help you replace Zion as much as it helps you not have a tax team if you lost your Super Star to a career ending injury.

Thanks for the full details on that one, forgot that Embiid also had a games played criteria, I just thought it was if he gets a similar injury they can cut him. I knew about how it was structured otherwise, essentially if he’s cut for the same injury he gets something like 80% of his remaining salary each year that he has left.

Because I love throwing out hypotheticals to you psychopaths, what about Herro? I would like to think that Utah would want him in a deal, but he’s one year away from RFA, and stranger things have happened (aka Jarrett Allen and Lavert not being kept by Houston).
Would you throw in pick compensation for Herro knowing he’s getting paid soon? And if so, how much?

I really don’t see the Pels adding long term salary outside of possibly getting a rim protector (for around what we’re paying Graham). It really doesn’t make sense otherwise, we’d have too much long term salary on the books. You can’t pay CJ 35, BI 33, Zion 33, Herro 25+.

I just don’t see how we can pay him long term. He’s going to get $15 million or more AAV. In the next couple years we’ll be talking extensions for Herb and Trey with Zion/BI/CJ (assuming he’s extended soon) at large dollar amounts.
If we wanted to rent him for a season with the intention to sign and trade him next offseason, I think including Graham and a first is fine.

I agree. I would love to have him even for one year next season. And maybe get “something” in a future sign and trade. But our firsts are pretty sweet with swaps etc, I just don’t see throwing them away.

After previously shutting down inquiries on moving All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell, rival teams say the Utah Jazz are showing a willingness to listen on possible trade scenarios, sources tell ESPN.
He a poor defender, so some team is going to overpay Utah for him and see a smaller impact than they expected.

Supposedly Kyrie wants to stay in Brooklyn now.

Makes me think neither of them will be traded this off-season. I saw some clown Laker reporter state that the Lakers have leverage in the Kyrie situation because they have a backup plan and can trade Westbrook for Myles Turner and Buddy Hield
Can you imagine thinking that the Lakers have the leverage in this situation?

What would a Mitchell trade look like for us?
Graham + Hayes + Picks? How many?
I'd imagine the Jazz will want picks over players since this means they're tanking.

He is that’s true but I feel like he’s a hard worker (trains with Jrue’s guy) and would be a good volume shooter off the bench for us where we can recoup his value.
