It really is!!
So within 48 hours, Zion is not happy wants control of the team and/or wants out after 2 years of being in the NBA according to some nameless family member. Also, Gayle (who’s one of the best owners in pro sports) is going to move the Pelicans from New Orleans but keep the Saints here (where she lives and still goes to home games in the Superdome)? It’s official that The Athletic is on the same level of BS as Fletch now.
Side note- it’s stupid for the NBA too. Because how many all star games have been hosted in New Orleans in such a short period of time?!?!

Lester- when someone makes a statement that unequivocal you have to take them at face value.

I just don’t think she is as connected as y’all think. She became a billionaire over night. She’s not a business owner. She wasn’t groomed to own a sports franchise, much less two. shite she wasn’t even a sports fan.
It wasn’t a blood inheritance so just how bonded do you think she is too it? Especially when it’s bad & there is no fan enthusiasm & support. Like why should she care? She didn’t buy a team with a burning desire for success.
I was fine with Tom buying the team but not with her owning it. She’s just not tied to it all that much besides being a figure head. Which I think she enjoys the most. When she gets bored with that, then what? What kind of weird arse trust do they have set up when she’s near the end, and how does that influence things.
This isn’t some play toy. Real life business. It’s tough & it’s competitive & raw. She skates all criticism so I don’t even know if she feels it. But it can eat you up

You're right about Gayle Benson, just think if his (is it his niece or grandaughter), Idk. Just think if she would have taken over. Lol But Mrs. Benson should sell the basketball team imo.
