You know that part of you that says, "Screw the future and live for the moment"? That part of me says to give OKC a couple of firsts and do this thing.
It's a dumb part of me, to be sure. But this would be fun.

Well, it's more than just getting Gallo. And again, this is a dumb idea, but we'd have to give OKC something to take Melli, because his contract for next season is guaranteed, and no one wants that contract. Maybe a first plus the Cleveland pick.

It's only 4 million, that's not 1st rounder to move, plus he's actually turning into a halfway decent player

Y'all are going to make me thing that this isn't such a crazy idea after all. Because if I could do that deal for just the cost of a 1st, I would find it very tempting, because I think that Gallinari is the perfect big to put on the court with Zion, and we'd have some real fun in the playoffs.

Galo is the ultra version of Niko
i love Galo i'd definitely trade one of the nearer Lakers picks for him if that was possible
BI/Zion/Galo is a frick you front court in the playoffs, offensively. with Favors sprinkled into various sets/lineups, that's a legit B+ front court, overall
Jrue/Ball/Reddick/Moore/Hart also provide back court versatility
that team healthy and gelled is dangerous right now. we could legit run with literally anyone outside of the super elite

One other guy that's available we could possibly get and would be a great fit for us is LaMarcus Aldridge also
The salary would be a bit tough to put together, but we could find a team with a bigger expiring contract we could swap Miller for and send Moore, Miller, Melli and a top 10 protected 1st
Not sure on his reputation as a locker room guy

Who wants to run against anyone but the "super elite" when that is who we would be playing? No thanks.
Favors is too important to bench. Unless he and Zion are terrible together, he continues to start.

There's nothing we can do this season to be on par with the super elite.

He and Aldrige are on the plus side of 30...so if they arent for now, why would we trade for them? IMO, we look for fits that work within a 3-5 year timeline. They both make good m9ney and would limit our flexability. That is how I see it

This is the only thing that would hold me back on Galo
At 31 and an expiring, he will want one last big multi year deal in the offseason, and I wouldnt give him the 3 or 4/60-90 that he would want due to his age..
Aldridge is under contract for 26 next season and then he will be 36 when it comes time for his next deal. Or if the right guy comes available (Beal), he's an expiring that matches perfect salary wise

being a guy who can get us possibly a playoff win a year or 2 earlier is worth a late 1st (at best would be a Euro stash) and salary
the problem is it's very likely we're going to be too good to tank in about 3 days and it's very possible we make the playoffs without Gallo

Avg this season 19 and 7.5.
Career 19 and 8.5

So you are in favor of trading assets for a guy that doesnt fit long term but can help us get to the playoffs and lose first round...when you think we may do that already? Is winning 1 game in the playoffs worth giving up any asset when the alternative is making the playoff but not winning that 1 game? Seems pointless to me but we all have different value systems
Posted on 1/19/20 at 9:24 am to CelticDog
Yes,Spurs have him and Derozen on the trade block

No it’s not.

one of those early LAL late 1sts isn't a valuable asset
Gallo is UFA after this year and that seems risky but it provides flexibility, imho. we have expirings and that late 1st really only works when combining them for taking on salary (and there don't appear to be many options available). otherwise, a late 1st isn't that valuable. mainly euro stashing (our roster is pretty full right now)

If we were to get Gallinari, I actually think that we'd go big for our starting lineup and put BI at SG and Zion at SF: Jrue/Ingram/Zion/Gallinari/Favors.
