Borrego would have to think about that move. He has to consider the possibility of Willie getting fired mid-season and being the interim with a chance to prove himself.

I am sure he has thought about that, and might rather gain attention in a premier market with a good roster and a coach that might actually listen to him

I believe that is why he has stayed on our staff for as long as he has.

Now we will really not have any offensive scheme

This is kind of like the Oregeron-Aranda era at LSU.

Imagine having a boss be so much less intellectually and strategically deep as you are. Must be maddening.

Reminds me of that famous clip from the Browns Hard Knocks where 2 former HCs (who are much smarter and successful) try to correct Hue Jackson

Borrego has to feel like he is in hell, but he keeps believing that the guy in front of him is SO stupid that he will get his shot.

Willie is a box of rocks, and refuses to run any of Borrego's schemes...but he doesn't curse so he keeps chugging along.

Borrego will take the Knicks job. I would.

Oh so I guess we're in year 3 of this board where we think Borrego moves the needle.

Meanwhile, the fact that he has made it this long without a head coaching job despite desperately trying every offseason to get one, says what everyone should know by now... he's not anything special.

The fact that he keeps getting interviews for HC jobs and lead assistant interviews in better markets tells you the league feels better about him than Willie does.

Is this roster going to help him when he's trying to prove himself?

He's getting interviews because his agent is shopping him every offseason because he wants out. Notice how his name is always mentioned initially for jobs, but he never seems to be close to getting a job.

James Borrego must be Phil Jackson the way he’s regarded here

Mike Brown is a downgrade from Thibodeau.

Not sure I’ve ever seen a scenario where someone was in the running to be the head man, got passed over, then took an assistant job under the man he was passed over for. I find this highly unlikely.

So how does that work exactly? Do we need to give him permission to go?

They almost hired Dawn Staley. It’s crazy how they think the top coaches who just made the playoffs were available lol
