The Hawks have emerged as a potential trade destination for New Orleans' Jrue Holiday in multi-team trade scenarios that would involve Atlanta's No. 6 pick in next week's draft, league sources say

More from Stein:

quote:

Any team trading for Holiday, of course, has to be cognizant of his contractual situation, with the Pelicans' guard -- regarded as one of the league's foremost two-way players -- expected to decline his $27 million option for 2021-22 and become a free agent after this season

Outgoing
Jrue

Kevin Hurter
Deandre Hunter

Future 1st

That would be sick. Prob no future 1 for us. But I’d do that in a heartbeat.

Stein reporting it is pretty rock solid. So all of the smoke around Atlanta appears to be the real deal.

We want 6, and this is a multi-team deal with Jrue going to ATL.

That means there are a lot of moving parts here. A straight up trade with Atlanta seem to make sense, so with other teams involved I am intrigued.

super unlikely we would get even close to that much, and as indicated, this is likely a multi-team deal.

If you get Hunter does it make sense to draft Patrick Williams?

I mean you can never have enough of those types of guys but yeah.

It would make sense for maybe a player or two go from Atlanta to elsewhere, and a player from elsewhere to here.

Just have to figure out the "elsewhere".

Also Jrue

Gotta say, I didn't actually think Griffin would have the guts to get rid of Jrue.

Jrue is a great fit in Atlanta IMO. Covers up so much of what Trae Young can't do, and vice versa.

Anyone have a clue as to a third team?

Also...it seems to me if its a multi-team that increases the likelihood from us of more of our own players being involved and/or 13.

@LegionHoopsRoss
Source: The Hawks, Pelicans and Wolves have discussed the idea of a 3 team trade that would send star guard Jrue Holiday to Atlanta

Would have to guess two of Capella, Dedmon, and John Collins will be on the move. They are crowded with big men and wings at the moment.

Legion Hoops is not reliable at all but I guess we can speculate. I can't imagine what Minny would be getting out of the deal and sending back. Doesn't make too much sense to me.

Also, everyone's favorite Hawks/Pels insider Crewz:

I told you guys Atlanta was looking to accelerate way back when I had the Rona. If Jrues people give any indication at all he would be interested in staying there, trade will get done. They have the best package unless GS puts in the Minny first. But now, ball is in Jrues court

That would be interesting, especially coupled with the reports of Minnesota wanting to trade up to #6.

I wonder if the framework they maybe discussing would be some variation of:

Pels: #1, #6

Wolves: John Collins, #13

Hawks: Jrue, Culver, #17

It would lead credence to the rumors of us being in on Lamelo Ball also.

Agreed, he spits out any and every rumor out there. Just the only thing I’ve seen as to a 3rd team. Made me Wonder if Culver and 17 for 6 speculation tied into the Jrue trafe

Current Depth Chart:
PG: Trae Young, Brandon Goodwin
SG: Kevin Huerter
SF: De’Andre Hunter, Cam Reddish
PF: John Collins, Bruno Fernando
C: Clint Capela, Dewayne Dedmon

call me a dick but theres nothing there (thats available) that gets me very excited. lets see what team 3 looks like. we can safely assume young & hunter are off limits, reddish sucks, collins is limited, and frick-no on dedmon or capela

so that leaves...huerter & 6 for jrue?
no

They aren't trading away Capela. They like his fit there.
Maybe Collins is going to Minny. Dedmon doesn't have much value at all. He's just a salary filler if he's involved in anything.

Love your confidence

I imagine even in this shite draft we would have to give up more value than that.

Why would the Wolves give up and 1 and Culver and only get John Collins back

Maybe its my own pessimism, but Stein made sure to say the 6th pick would be involved, not that it was coming here.

If we were able to pull it off, I'd much rather have one of Atlanta's young guys and take a gamble on their 2021 pick, in a loaded draft.

I think the dirty little secret here that only Pelicans fans seem to know is that while Jrue is very good, he doesn't actually move win totals in a huge way.
