In 2017-2018 we started out the season 3-5
In 2018-2019 we started out the season 4-7
A lot of those games were not even against playoffs teams. This year we have already played 3 of the top 5 teams from last season and had opportunities to win 3/4 games.
Our #3 player is out and we are relying on a euro player in his 1st nba year and a backup small forward to gaurd the 4.
I'm confused because all off season everyone agreed we are playing for a 7-8 seed in a competitive west and may miss the playoffs if the race is tight.
We aren't winning a championship this year so get the hell over it. This is our season to develop players and see who fits in our system. Have all of you lost hope in David Griffin? Do any of you think he won't fire Gentry and move around players if he believes its necessary?
This whole season is based on chemistry, contracts, and fit. That's because before this year we didn't have chemistry, good contracts, or the right peices. So how can someone of you act like this team was already prepared for the playoffs and have all the pieces they need in place after just 4 months?
Of course I am dreaming big and want the best for my team, but I will not freak out over the reality of the mountain this team will have to climb. We are 4 games in, LSU is #1, and the Saints are 7-1, I don't know where the fricke some of yall's estrogen is coming from.

Why would you use this trainwreck of a season to "help" your argument?

I'll do eyeran's work for him:
I'm not melting anymore. It just is what it is.
This team needs to learn to fit together, and there are a lot of guys that need to develop, and we have main pieces out right now.
it is going to be a long year of growth and development. My expectations are adjusted, and they should never have been high to begin with, with Uncle Al coaching.

0-4 so far guys!
Add that to starting 0-6/1-11 in 2016.
0-8 in 2017.
0-2 in 2018.
4-0 last year followed by losing 6 in a row.

I just think a lot of people are still viewing this organization as what it was. This isn't Demps letting Gentry or Monty do whatever they want and get nowhere forever. Griffin obviously wants to see how Gentry's system works but I have full trust that he will get rid of him or move any players that do not fit our team in a heartbeat.

I've been working on a new genre. Its a mix of Indie pop, blues, and baroque.

The big concerns for me is on the defensive end and pure lack of court awareness from many of the players on this team. All of that points directly to Gentry IMO. Under Gentry's leadership, we've always had defensive issues and I was hopeful with the changes this year that would improve. So far, it looks worse than it has ever looked and sadly adding Zion won't drastically improve the defensive struggles that has always plagued this team under Gentry's leadership.

I agree with most of what you said. Downvote for the stupid thread title.

I can take a moral victory from Toronto and Houston, but blowing the lead against Dallas and the shitshow Monday are inexcusable.

We love our 0-4 starts don’t we folks?

You are 100% correct, but we're Pelicans fans, so it's in our nature be reactionary and pessimistic at the first sign of trouble.
I think most level-headed and reasonable fans had the foresight to expect a slow start, especially after the Zion injury. We are a young team, with almost all new players trying to learn to play together, under some new coaches and FO personnel.
In the four games we have played we faced both of the teams that went to the finals last year, the 4th seed in the West from last year and a Dallas team that looks really good so far with one of the best young duos in the league. We didn't lose to Charlotte or New York.
We were in the first 3 games til the end, and lost badly to a pissed off Golden St team while 3 of our starting 5 were out with injury.
This hasn't been the trainwreck fans are making it out to be. Our future is just as bright as it was 2 weeks ago. Patience just isn't our thing apparently.

Yawn. What will be your excuse for the next game we lose?

Thanks for proving his point. What kind of dumb question is that considering Zion/ Jrue are still out and our team is still brand new? You are so impatient that you'd rather throw a temper tantrum every game instead of realizing the big picture for this season. The big picture is to prepare for our future jack arse. If you actually trust our new FO then you would look at all the positives throughout the year and have confidence they will take care of the negatives like they were brought in to do.
