He certainly was never the solution. And if you want to be paid 40+ million, you should be a lot more than not the problem. It's even more true when your replacement is younger, just as good, and nearly half the price.

What’s the over/under on days until CJ goes on his podcast and rightfully blasts this shite organization and their fat lazy entitled super star? He won’t because he’s a classy guy but he should.

Yeah. I thought he'd be moved closer to the deadline but I get moving him now before any potential injuries.

Parcells rule I live by as a GM:better to trade a player a year early than a year late.

Except his replacement isn't just as good. Trey is great and can go on absolute heaters, but nobody is building their defense around stopping him.

Poole is also a good running the P&R which would be necessary for Missi to thrive on offense.

Except that takes the ball out of Zion's hands, which is the only way he tries.

Well, I guess they're taking a big man in the draft like y'all are saying, but I wanted them to take that kid Fears from Oklahoma. That kid is explosive and will be explosive in the NBA. Goodluck to McCollum and Olynyk they were good in their time in NO.

So, they are a building team whose ceiling next year is probably the play-in tourny and they trade a 33 year old player on an expiring contract for a couple of usable guys 7 years his junior and a pick in a draft that happens to be occurring tomorrow, and there are people on this board who don't understand that?

Do some of you even follow the NBA?

Apparently SAC really likes Murray and Herb and are open to trading Sabonis....

if it's Murray and Herb for Sabonis, straight up, i'd do that in a heartbeat...

CJ was valuable. There were multiple games when he was the only guy hitting shots and keeping us in it…
Plus he is a leader and strong locker room guy.

CJ is washed. He's never been even an average defender, but he's slowed down lately and gotten so much worse. This past season, his DBPM was the 2nd-lowest in the league, only bettering Trae Young. So many of y'all don't care, because you don't think that defense actually matters, but overall, he will likely be a negative player this coming season.

I'm not necessarily praising the trade, but y'all have to give up the idea that CJ has anything positive left in the tank.

Is Zion going to play more than ~30 minutes per game?

Hell, is he going to play more than ~30 games per season?

We may not win a bunch of games, but a Zion/Trey/Poole/Sabonis/#7 pick core sounds fun.

To expand on this, Willie Green wants to be a defense-first coach. Think about starting the season with the lineup of CJ, Herb, Trey, Zion, and Missi. That would have been Herb and four poor defenders. Hopefully, Missi, Zion, and Trey all improve somewhat this coming season, but they were fair-to-poor defenders last season (Zion probably the 2nd-best defender in that starting 5). It's really not fair to Willie.

Now, Poole is still a poor defender, but he's not as bad as CJ, and he's probably not getting any worse this upcoming season.

We should have exceptions to add decent depth along with #7, #23, #40.

But we would need to add picks in that trade. I'd rather keep Herb and trade:

Murray/ Hawk/ Jose/ #23/ 26'/ 26' swap/ 28'/ 30'

That trade should get it done or close but its more of a pipe dream.
