From KOC. He polled 14 execs and the majority listed us as the most likely "sleeper" in a Beal sweepstakes:

quote:

There could also be a few teams flying under the radar who can put themselves in a superstar sweepstakes. This weekend, I asked 14 front office executives which teams come to mind as a sleeper for a blockbuster deal. Six of the executives responded with the Pelicans; three said the Heat; two said the Knicks; and the Mavericks, Nuggets, and Spurs each got one vote. It’s difficult to see a path toward a deal for Dallas without the inclusion of Kristaps Porzingis. Any team dealing with Denver would need to see value in Michael Porter Jr. (and he’s a love-him-or-hate-him type of player). New York and San Antonio aren’t ready to contend, but do have a blend of young players and picks to package together

quote:

Draft picks aren’t a problem for New Orleans, by far the most mentioned team by executives. The Pelicans are sitting on a pile of future firsts acquired for Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday, plus a bevy of talented young players and tradable veterans. Execs from other teams don’t believe Pelicans executive vice president David Griffin will sit on his assets for long considering how good Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson already are. With Stan Van Gundy at head coach and Steven Adams at center, the Pelicans are getting stops. Ingram and Williamson need assistance offensively though. They don’t have a shot-creator and their spacing stinks. Beal would bring what the team is lacking with his shooting and shot creation.

Hard to consider us a sleeper with one of the biggest warchests in the league IMO, but good to see us mentioned.

Beal fixes a plethora of issues with this team.

Idc if we have to send all the picks for him. Do it.

Beal would be freaking amazing with Ingram and Zion.

I'd give up A LOT for him.

Just keep flinging crap against the wall and hope something sticks. Lets trade all our youth and captial to add an "all star". There is just no plan to anything we are doing. No consideration to fit or salary, how everything would work together.

Straight up, the only way I trade for Beal is if we trade Ingram for him. That would be a good swap for both teams. Otherwise, we have 4-5 players (that should be playing minutes in the league), of which 3 need to have the ball. Its a recipe for a disaster.. That isn't a good team..

The problem as I see it, we don't have the player to build a trade around for Beal.

Yeah we can give them a bunch of picks but that only gets you so far. They are going to want at least one player they can sell as a future potential piece and we don't have that guy that we could give up.

I mean would they bite on some variation of Ball/Jax/NAW/Hart plus multiple unprotected picks? Player wise, there's really not an enticing enough guy there.

I feel like even a team like Chicago that could give up a guy like Lavine could easily beat us out player wise. Our only advantage is the shear number of picks we could give up, and even those aren't that great besides our own.

Yea, I really don't get that.

If we assume OKC is more in rebuild mode and we want to win a bit sooner, we have the pile of assets, so I'm not sure why we'd be a sleeper.

Whether we'd come to an agreement on a deal, I don't know. But I imagine we'd be right up there with other teams in the mix.

Give them whatever they want aside from Zion, Ingram and Adams. I don't care what you have to lose. Beal has 3 years left and is 27 years old.

Lonzo, JJ, Melli, Hayes, 3 1sts? We have the assets if they want to rebuild

We are not going to frick over JJ like that.

I could see Hart being open to it since he's from DC I think. At least he's a WFT fan.

If we can get it done without losing JJ, I'm more than good with that. I'm just thinking of players that have some trade value

JJ could be included in a multi-team where he goes to Brooklyn or Philly and something of value goes to Washington.

Will come down to what the Wizards prioritize more. We obviously have the draft picks to get it done but are lacking the centerpiece player. Would be nice if NAW or Hayes raises their value a bit.

They will want the same thing most teams want for a star player:

Cap flexibility, multiple draft picks, young player that can sell as a potential next good player.

We are lacking the last one.

They don't want JJ, and they sure as shite don't want Melli.
JJ would need to go somewhere else for a player they'd want, same with Bledsoe, assuming they wanted more than we could offer. Lonzo/Hayes/Hart/Kira/NAW(maybe) is about all they would be interested in players wise, and none of that makes them happy.

Adding Beal with BI makes it difficult to justify Bledsoe being the PG. Bledsoe is better with the ball in his hands, and if Beal and BI are out there, then Bledsoe is a catch and shoot player for the most part, and that's not his game.

We don't really have the assets for someone to really rebuild, b/c we don't have any nice lottery picks, or potential top 10 draft picks to give up, unless you want to assume a Lakers/Bucks pick in 5 years.

But i would agree that i would give up just about whatever they want outside of BI and Zion. I doubt they'd want Adams, but if that's what it took, i'd trade him too. Our future is with Zion at the 5 being protected by a guy like PJ Tucker, and that would require your guards to rebound well to work defensively.

My thing with a Beal trade is I don't think a bunch of picks is enough. You'd need a young player for them to get excited about. BI and Zion aren't going out obviously, Kira is a complete unknown, and I don't think anyone would get excited about Lonzo, NAW, or Hayes.

Yeah I think your hope would be Kira starts play, somehow looks like a budding star, and he can become the intriguing young guy at the center. But considering he can't get on the court right now, that seems unlikely if Beal demands a trade this season.

MM brought up trading for Siakam if the Raps decide to retool / rebuild a bit and you don't have the assets to get Beal. Would be interesting.

If you offer the Wiz Lewis, Hayes, Redick, Ball and 4 1sts (best pick available 4 years in a row), they will do that deal. It gives them immediate cap relief, they can flip Redick and Ball at the deadline and a couple of recent lottery picks. Its shite or get off the pot time. Our team would be set for the next 2-3 seasons. We have no depth, we are paying the tax and we are a top 6ish seed. I get why guys would be rooting for this. We are competitive right away and should be solid (barring injuries). Its just not how I like teams to be built. But it is there if we want it..
