It shouldn't be weird. If you act like a professional and take hurt feelings out, it makes a ton of sense from both a basketball and business standpoint.

He is one of the top players in the league at his position and will be a free agent when we have cap space.
It's a position we will likely not fill in the Davis trade or draft.
His last month in Finch's offense was historically dominant.
And most of all, it could completely change the dynamic for a Tatum, Kuzma, or Porzingas knowing that the team is at least trying to win in the near term.

Boogie has said publicly that Dell screwed him over with his last offer. Same guy that signed for 15 mil less than we offered purely out of spite.

I can't see him returning with the same management in the same roles. Could be wrong tho

It's understood that Dell would be gone in this scenario

He’s a talented but frustrating player to watch. I’d rather not

First, I think Boogie and AD both pushed each other, not to mention Rondo. He wouldn't have anyone like that on the team to push him away from his worst habits. Second, he liked Gentry so even if they got rid of Demps if that's the actual plan then does that mean Gentry gets to stay?

The other thing I don't like about this is it seems a little meddlesome and micromanaging from an ownership standpoint. So they aren't even going to pretend to have a GM search, they'll just turn it over to Ferry and let him sign Boogie and that will sell tickets so it seems like a good plan?!

I'm not anti-Ferry becoming GM or anti-Boogie returning under the right circumstances. I am anti-Looking for shortcuts to save ticket sales. Shortcuts focused on ticket sales are how we got in this mess in the first place.

This is the franchise, man.

I have been trying to warn you guys for years and I am both happy you guys are starting to see it and also somewhat feel sorry for you all.

But it is what it is. You guys either gotta accept it or move on and do more professional stuff with your time. It ain't gonna change

I completely understand running it like a business and wanting to maximize ticket sales. What I don't understand is how they don't see that if you invest in your business you'll get an even bigger return back. The new league economics with the TV money windfall and increased revenue sharing have lowered the importance of ticket sales quite a bit from the Shinn era. They could still be profitable even if attendance took a dip for a year or 2 while they invested in developing the roster.

Dell would be gone in this scenario and AD would have been traded.

The belief is that the market won't be huge for him and he could provide the star power necessary to sell tickets.

Anyway, not a plan, just something that has been discussed..some people I'm the organization loved Boogie

I have a hard time believing that Boogie would want to come back to a Pels team that is likely going to be a trash heap for the next few seasons.

And I say this because I have an equally hard time believing that Dell will be gone before botching this trade/rebuild centered around AD leaving.

We’d probably pay more than most and Boogie could return and be the good guy for the first time in his career.,

Of course when he inevitably implodes on a bad team, all of that goodwil would be lost.

How many teams do you think are going to throw 15+ mil per year at Boogie this summer?

Now, take those teams and tell me how many of them would have better players than Jrue and Tatum.

I honestly struggle to come up with even 3 teams that will throw real money and multiple years at Boogie

But didn't you say that Demps was going to stay on as GM post-AD? I cannot see he and Boogie co-existing.

Crewz, didn’t you at one time say that much the coaching staff would be happy to let him leave? Of course, much of the staff may be gone soon, I would think.

I'm guessing this assumes we move Randle, Moore, Solo, and possible Niko and have enough room to sign him to that type of deal? Because I know the Boston trade won't be an uneven one like the Philly one potentially will be.

Lets be clear, so you guys understand me:

I have no sources above Dell. I have no idea what they will do with him or their FO staff in general.

My guess is that Dell will stay because they owe him money and they don't really care about the franchise enough to make the changes needed.

But they are also actively thinking about how they can move on from this era while also not taking a massive hit financially. Boogie is a name that they think is acquirable that can sell tickets. Who else could they sign this summer that could do that? Would a marketing campaign around Jrue sell tickets to the casual fan? Do you think the casual fan in NOLA even knows who Tatum is?

This is the thinking. I do not think they'd mov heaven and earth to make this happen. But they have discussed it already. Which was just interesting to me.

That is just such flawed thinking. They think like the NFL (clearly because they are NFL minds) and that just doesn't work in the NBA.

I get the business aspect of it and bringing Boogie in actually makes some sense, but they need to start looking at how it impacts wins and losses versus ticket sales...winning will bring in people...not names who may or may not fit.

They would say - Winning is outside of our control. Selling tickets is not

Look, they put together a team they were sure would win this year and lost. A lot. Can't control that.

But if I create a great marketing campaign around a likeable, interesting figure, I can control ticket sales

This is how business people think. Look at movies. Going after Oscars - out of our control. But if I take a known property like a comic book or a known brand from the past that had success and attach a star to it, I will sell tickets. Yeah, the movie might suck, but I will make money. And if the movie is good, awesome, I will make even more money!
