If we had Brogdon and Sabonis coming our way, I don't see any way we'd really keep either NAW or Jax, much less both of them, no?
Depends on how many picks you give up. If Griff offered Kira and 4 1sts, do you think they'd say no because they wanted NAW and Jaxson instead? NAW and Jaxson are players most of this board was ready to sell for peanuts 3 months ago.

i love some of the revisionist history going on in this thread. let's be honest, most of y'all were on board for the SVG hire and pumped it up
Not I, but i'm the village idiot
quote:
I am not on board with this hire.
He is arrogant and not open to change it appears based on his history.
He got fired mid season from a team that went on and won a championship b/c he argued with Shaq and refused to listen to Riley.
He got fired from the Magic for issues with Dwight Howard, although this one doesn't bother me that much b/c Howard was an idiot, but it just further shows that he does what he wants and doesn't really care what others think.
After all of that he took a job with Detroit where he would have complete control of the team, and that was a failure.
All of that points to a guy that isn't capable of taking criticism and changing for the better more often than not.
Didn't seem like that's the kind of guy Griffin is looking for.
Has SVG changed and humbled himself a bit? I seriously doubt it. Seems like a hire that is extremely risky in pissing off our stars off, as well as our GM.
Has anyone but JJ had anything good to say about him?
He has a quote saying "You have a different opinion than Pat, then apparently it's stupid". SVG seems too stupid to see the hypocrisy in this quote, both in basketball terms and within his twitter feed.
He was an assistant under Pat for 13 years before getting promoted to HC. He soured all that previous experience in no time b/c of his arrogance, and he seems too stupid to even know of his arrogance.
HARD PASS HERE!

This does make me feel better.
Make Zion happy. I wonder who the malcontents are if it isn't Zion. There aren't many holdovers from Gentry. Hart, Lonzo, Ingram, Hayes, and NAW?

I'm not making an assumption and if Zion wanted Stan gone, he'd be on the first plane out.

I can see naw and Hayes being angry since they played less this year than last early on, in favor of Bledsoe, jj, and willy. It wasn't til midway through the season they got consistent minutes.
Hart had arguably his best season, so idk if it's him but I can see it since he's always been vocal.

It depends on if you're keeping Lonzo, but yes ideally you want to keep NAW and Jax, Jax showed alot of promise this season playing the 4 in spots, as well as the 5.
NAW showed a huge presence on the defensive end.

They're stupid if they're mad. Both players got significantly better this year.

Jax and NAW aren't mad and if they were nobody would care. They don't have that kind of leverage.
Lonzo and Hart are probably the malcontents of the group you listed. We already know why Lonzo would be suspect #1 on that list, nothing more needs to be said.
Hart mentioned on a podcast early in the season that Stan reminded him of his coach at Villanova, but not in a good way, in a "I thought I was done with this shite" way. He also became BFFs with JJ, so I can see him being soured on the team.
On top of that, both are Free Agents. Eric Gordon didn't say his heart was in Phoenix because he loved it there. He was trying to make money. Nic Batum said some terrible things clearly fed to him by his agent when he was an RFA in Portland trying to force a better deal and signed an offer sheet with Minnesota.
Being happy with the team you want money from is not a good strategy to get that money. I'm not saying they don't want out, but with this much smoke it feels like more than click bait speculation, it feels like agent leaks to put pressure on the Pels.

Probably.
But I hope that gets offered and they say yes.
ETA: yes I know the question was “in favor of Jax and NAW”. But I’ve been on the Brogdon/Sabonis train since the trade deadline “rumors”. Make it happen Griff.

NAW and Hayes improved tremendously, and Hayes really seemed to be having fun out on the court at the end of the season, so I definitely don't think that they are malcontents.
The three former Lakers are the only serious candidates.
Look, losing isn't fun. It's natural for players to be frustrated. I would be disappointed if they were OK with losing. And no one starts exploring frustration by looking at their own faults and failures -- it's always easier to see other's faults than your own, but sometimes that inner sight comes with a little time of reflection. My hope is that our players are mad enough about missing the playoffs that they bust their asses this offseason to get better.

facts! Seems to me people forget these guys were making complete bone headed decisions game after game that they are only to have the blame for. Also only 3 guys on this roster have even played a playoff game yet the youngins wanna complain about SVG coaching them too hard. I get major KAT and DLo vibes from them if that’s the case. Guys who put up big numbers but will never be major contributers to anything significant because they don’t want to be pushed or give it their all.
Look at Thibs, dude has a reputation of over working and challenging his players. He got a bad rep for it because losers like KAT didn’t like it and eventually got fired for it. Now he’s on the knicks with a team who likes the challenge and embraces his philosophies and now they’re in the playoffs as a 4 seed.
In short, this locker room needs a complete exorcism and competitive cleansing
Preach, brother.

Hart thinks he’s better than he is and he bet on himself and lost. I can see him being bitter

Without knowing what contract was offered by the Pelicans in the offseason and what type of contract he will be offered in free agency, it's hard to assume he lost.
Posted on 5/20/21 at 7:51 pm to shel311
He missed 25 games and didn’t show improvement in the area that would get him paid
Some of the rookie extensions that were given out in December
Derrick White 4/70
Jonathan Isaac 4/69
Luke Kennard 4/56
Markelle Fultz 3/50
Kuzma 3/39
One can surmise that a Hart offer wouldve possibly fallen somewhere in the range of a Kennard Kuzma based on AAV. Or maybe we rightfully offered him $10 mil per and he was insulted

I'm watching the Pacers game hoping they get blown out to give them more reasons to be sellers this off season lol

frickton of assets to indy

Why would we send Sabonis to a third team and take Turner? Give me Sabonis and Brogdon over Turner and Brogdon every single time.
Posted on 5/20/21 at 8:58 pm to ThePistol
What makes pacers want to trade their players? They almost made the playoffs without Warren, Levert and Myles Turner. That’s three starters on their team. Also Jeremy lamb who is a serviceable bench player
