I think a smart move would be to bring in David Vanterpool and place him on staff. He's not returning to the Wolves. He's a defensive wizard and really relates well with players.

Vanterpool seems to have a lot of fans around the league, especially with players. One concern I have is the rumor we saw after the NCAA season was over that one of Stan's BFFs, the coach from Arizona, might be joining the staff. If any of this friction is legit then adding an old school college coach to the mix is probably not the way to go.

I'd love to get some of the Raptors' pieces on this team. OG, Pascal, or FVV would help to cure a lot of what ails this team.

If we're going after Raptors personnel, I say we see if Uriji resigns with Toronto and if not, we fire Griff and give Uriji a blank check to come here and build this franchise the right way. That's the dude responsible for their success and he may be on his way out the door. Problem is half the franchises in the league would be after him.

Stan wouldn't have been a bad hire, if they didn't cheap out on the assistant coaches. You had LAC and Nets building a super roster of assistants, while Pels ended up with pretty much scrap as lead assistant.

The assistant coaching staff is rough on paper.

Having Bledsoe on this team disrespecting the coaches doesn’t help the young players also. If there is an actual rift, fire him now. Seeing how Griffin always say Zion goes to him for things/concerns, Griffin needs to answer to it.

I’m surprised by it tbh, Zion and Ingram always talk about they like SVG.

I don’t think he’s going to correct it either. He’s 6 years into his career and still weighs a buck 85. BI is who he is. He’s Carmelo Anthony Lite which is a good player, but not one that can carry you to consistent wins.

Griff is keeping Ingram though, so there are 1 of 2 ways to combat that. Build a crazy defensive team with spot up shooters around BI and Z or say frick it and trade for someone like Beal or Lavine and go all in on offense. Make a move that makes you an undisputed top 3 offense in the league to the point where you can just overwhelm teams on that side of the ball and on key defensive possessions, you can throw your Didi’s, Naji Marshalls, etc in to get a stop.

Yeah, you can't bring in an old hard-nosed head coach, and hire another old guy as his lead assistant with such a young team. You need that young up and coming lead assistant to bridge the gap between the coach and players.

Bob Beyer is not that, not even close.

I think Bledsoe and Hart's don't give a frick attitude later in the season is probably a reflection of what the locker room felt as a whole. Remember... Bledsoe was very PC to start the year. These cats went from Uncle Al who literally did everything to shield his players from criticism to SVG who has no issues calling out his players in the press when he felt like it. The players are very protective of each other when the press gets critical of one of their own. It's a players league and Coaches who can't relate to their players just don't work in today's league.

My blame is mostly on Griff. He picked the coach that doesn’t mess well with young players (especially if they won’t play defense), traded our second best player for one guy that was good in the last NBA era and another who’s completely checked out, and disnt find any consistent 3 pt shooters in a 3 pt shooting league. It’s a roster full of young guys who aren’t necessarily good shooters and don’t care on defense with a coach who is predicated on solid smart defenders and doesn’t have patience for mental lapses of young players. The roster doesn’t fit!! Griff just sells snake oil in every press conference.

You're giving up wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much for CJ McCollum. We wouldn't have to throw picks in to swap him for BI. In fact i think its the other way around.

What happened to the BI at the beginning of the season that said he wanted the coaching staff to get on his arse, curse him out when he’s doing wrong, etc etc?

I called this weeks ago, by the way.

You can talk all you want about blaming the players, and they deserve some of it, but the lack of effort is usually b/c you dont' believe in what your coach wants you to do, so you aren't going to bust your arse for him.

What happened in Atlanta showed that clear as day.

He was a stupid hire from the get go that almost no one was on board with, on here, or on the national media (of basketball people). Get his arse out of here now.

If Zion becomes the first guy to not sign his max contract with the team that drafted him, i will without a doubt stop being a Pelican fan altogether, and i've been on that train since the team moved here.

and i agree, this offseason is the most important offseason in this teams history. been saying that, for over a year now.

Probably prefer to keep those types of criticisms to stay in house vs doing it in the press.

There’s rumblings now the team isn’t a fan of his.

Kind of like how the fans aren't fans of his either?

SVG's place in the league hasn't really been there since the shooting revolution happened and changed Dwight Howard from an MVP to Just A Guy.

Yes, they had great outside shooting in Orlando but he hasn't done shite post-Dwight in either Detroit or New Orleans.

There were several post-game pressers where SVG said "Zion and BI, as the leaders, have to step up and..."

If I'm Ingram and I'm watching Eric frickin Bledsoe drive a tank into the ground, and then I get my arse chewed in public by my coach, i'd be pretty pissed too

I'm not saying BI didn't have his share of dgaf moments, but I'd bet alot of the unhappiness stems from SVG insisting on giving starter minutes to Bledsoe, who actually admitted in interviews that he was barely trying.. Hart had to be wondering why he wouldn't get those minutes since he actually gave a shite about winning...

Also, if Crewz is to be believed, Zion’s camp, specifically his step-dad, is pissed. Supposed disagreement over philosophy, team building, training, etc. Not sure if his step dad speaks for him but it’s alarming. Not unrepairable though. This season is crucial.
