There must be something wrong with. me. With 6 years of post-grad education, including law and PhD level work, I’m still not completely sure how this crap works.
I’ll just wait for the announced results.

Funny how we are all so different in certain areas. I'm pretty sharp at understanding "probabilities" and other math-related stuff...but I can barely operate a screw driver...just the way it is...

Who was the old Tulane math instructor? Long-haired dude. He drove to Baton Rouge for the draft lottery hangout at Pluckers on Bluebonnet when we found out we'd be getting AD. I thought he brought a lot to the table as a poster, but he pissed off a lot of people with his matter of fact approach to stats.

What's the point of having one combination not assigned to a team? Is it just because they need 1001 combos to make the math work?

There's 14 teams in the lottery...they are drawing ONLY for the TOP 4 selections. So, they take ALL the 4 digit combinations when you have 14 possible numbers. That works out to 1001 possible 4 digit combinations.

They eliminate ONE of the possible 1001 combinations (if they happen to draw it, they just ignore it). It's easy to figure out %s for each of the 14 teams in the lottery when you have 1000 possible combinations. NOT so easy when you have 1001...

Teams are "assigned" all their possible 4-digit combinations before the drawing starts. If we finish 4th worst...we get 12.5% of the total combinations...hence...we have 125 out of 1000 possible chances at winning the first 4-digit draw for the 1st draft pick. Then...the way I understand it...they throw all the balls back in the "bowl" and draw 4 more...for the 2nd draft pick...etc...etc

Wherever we pick, from 1-8, we should start the guy right away. If we spin that forward, it just shows that we have a ton of moves that we need to make. People need to go. I can't even phantom what we do if we pick Flagg or Bailey. Where do they play?

If we pick Flagg, he would start alongside Zion, Herb, DJM and TM3.

If we pick Harper, he probably takes DJM's spot and Missi starts.

If Bailey is the pick, I have no idea what we do lol.

Raptors lost to the wizards by sitting their entire starting line up again in the fourth

I can't see that. I could see starting Zion, Murphy and Flagg together, with Murray at the point (when he eventually comes back) or another lead guard. But there would have to be a big or a rotation of bigs, with one being Missi or Karlo (who I think is actually showing a bit more upside). I don't love that group together, but it is the most talented.

That would probably be the best fit with what we currently have. We would need to trade away McCollum, who should have some value as an expiring. We can pair him with Olynyk and really get an impact player (hopefully a good big).

I would trade back, if we got the 3rd pick. I think a few teams would really love Bailey and he's just not a good fit for us. I'd like us to find a really explosive young guard, preferably a PG. We can get that further back in the top 10. Maybe a team like Brooklyn or OKC would give us additional 1sts to slide back.

Thomas Sorber is an interesting prospect also. He’s out for the year. I wonder if we can trade a future first protected pick to OKC for him. He was projected borderline lottery and now is projected around the 20 area. Would’ve been higher if he didn’t play for Georgetown. IMO he’s the most complete big in this draft.

That was "Calmes" or "Clames" or something similar. He didn't post here often, but posted a lot on pelicansreport. He was intelligent but a nutjob.

When he was outed as the Tulane prof, his "ratemyprofessor.com" profile was posted on this forum. I posted a review that he was a great teacher but that it was hard to pay attention in class because of how frickable he was. It was up for like a day or two and got taken down.

Raps and Nets both lost to the Wiz and Hornets respectively. They are in full on tank mode and will catch us if Willie is allowed to play starters full minutes.

Wish he was taller and can playmake. Very athletic and can defend though. Comparison is Oladipo.

Pels 5 back of Raptors and Nets for 5th worst record. I think we are pretty safe at 4. Hornets win tonight and are only a half game being us. Jazz aren't even pretending to tank so its probably between the Pels and Hornets for who gets 3.

Very good night. Tanking is when being in the Western Conference helps a bunch.

Yea, With Toronto and Brooklyn winning tonight, The Pels have a 5 game cushion with that 4th spot. Assuming Sixers, Raptors, and Nets will probably win at least 1 more game, I feels pretty confident we'll finish 4th worst.
