we had:
an owner who almost literally couldn’t talk
a POBO who’s only comment on the team was that he “wasn’t that involved”
a GM who surfaced once a year then disappeared like a groundhog
a star player with the charisma of a dishrag
you can see how starved we are for someone to talk to us

Oh, I get it. As a Raiders fan, I have an owner with a haircut from Dumb and Dumber and our last GM made AD seem articulate.

I feel like your sports fandom may have been slightly easier the past decade if you had been a fan of the basketball team from Oakland and the football team from New Orleans and not the other way around

Whoever's on the radio right now in baton rouge on sports talk just said that he thought the reason Redden is staying is because the Clippers are actually going to be the team to swoop in and offer the Pelicans the godfather offer. His "source" said the Clippers already have a deal lined up with kawhi Leonard as a free agent.

the clippers have a ton of picks they can trade including MIA 2021 unrestricted. not to mention a glut of young players...the clips making an offer is certainly reasonable and kind of expected

If the Clippers have Kawhi lined up and the Knicks have Durant lined up, I smell a bidding war.
Clipper assets-
Gallinari ($22.6m expiring)
Lou Williams (2 seasons, $8m per)
Montrezl Harrell ($6m expiring)
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ($4m, rookie deal w 2 TOs and a QO)
Jerome Robinson ($3.5m, rookie deal w 2 TOs and a QO)
Landry Shamet ($2m, rookie deal w 2 TOS and a QO)
Sindarius Thornwell ($1.6m expiring)
Tyrone Wallace ($1.6m expiring)
Miami 2020 1st, unprotected
Portland 2019 2nd
Philly 2020 1st (lottery protected)
Detroit 2021 2nd
Detroit 2023 2nd
The Clip Show can’t trade their 2020 first due to conveying their 2019 1st to Boston, but could send future picks from 2021 on.
Not necessarily the best set of assets but definitely a good bidder for the field.

cant be aggregated, would have to be a separate smaller deal

I don’t think that is still a factor since this will be in July, after the start of the league year.
He’ll have been there since February by that point.

you are probably right i keep forgetting that the deal will be official after the new league year starts.
clips have good assets and you'd think they want to stick it to the lakers good. if they were to sign leonard and trade for davis they dont need draft picks going forward

Is SGA good enough to be the best player we get back in an AD deal? We need to get back someone who will be as good or better than Jrue long term.

Kind of depends when the trade is consummated, doesn’t it?
I know that it won’t be official until the new league year but it seems like sealing a deal before the Stepien Rule is no longer in play could be a problem.

Good question and I don’t have the answer to that.
Someone on here was a huge proponent of SGA but I can’t recall who.

I feel like SGA is probably between Tatum and Brown, in terms of potential.

I don't think so. I haven't watched enough of SGA to really have a feel for his upside, but he didn't jump off the page his rookie season.

no idea if he's good enough, but yes, he would be the best player we get back in a clippers deal. you'd do that deal for the volume of decent players and the picks

unrelated but interesting

I’m hearing that Danny Ferry interviewed with the #Wizards today for the GM position. Also, Gersson Rosas is in town for his interview, @FredKatz was first with that news.

That would make me think we wanted Griffin instead of Ferry not wanting the job.
Posted on 4/30/19 at 3:42 pm to Fun Bunch
not sure if relevant but wizards are 30 minutes away from where Ferry was born.
Posted on 4/30/19 at 3:52 pm to Chad504boy
What may be relevant is juvenile health facilities.
Ferry’s daughter has had major health problems since birth or shortly after, so finding a job in or near a major health hub would be high on the list.
And DC is awfully close to Johns Hopkins, which is one of the best schools for medicine in the US and has excellent hospitals as a result.

SGA will come down to how his off the dribble 3 pans out. He will be a plus defender, very good mid range scorer, will be able to get to the bucket. If he can take and make 3's off the bounce, he will be an All Star. If not, he will be a fine starter
