Around the league, it had been presumed that Griffin would be aggressive in finding a way to reunite with Redden, a well-regarded front-office executive.
Redden has been an assistant GM with the Clippers since shortly after his departure from Cleveland in 2017. When Griffin didn't come to terms on a new deal to stay on as the Cavaliers' top basketball executive, Redden left the organization soon after.
Redden worked his way up from an intern to a top front-office executive in his 11 years with the Cavaliers.

You also said that he may not want job essentially cause he’s already been offered days ago yet here we are asking permission to talk

He could have had this job already. He has three options on the table. Its not a done deal by any means. But he was the guy atop Griffin's list and he is wanted here, in Minny, and LA. Its not a done deal yet. But its the guy Griff wants. He will have to give him real power though and real responsibility

Griff should. He knows he needs a full competent staff. No point in the structure if you don’t put it to use

He also has a really good opportunity that could be possible in Minny. I was told three days ago that Minny and NOLA both had a better chance than LA for him. Apparently, there are some people in the financial departments of the Clippers that don't mesh too well with the basketball ops people and that is why a couple guys at the top there have a wandering eye

After he gets his top aide (lets say Redden), the next focus is to find a Senior Manager of Analytics and to really bolster up scouting department. He'd love to add Carlos Orjuela and Dan Vincent, but it might not be possible. After he fills out those departments, a robust retooling of the medical staff will come over the next few months.

I know that nobody is gonna feel bad for Dell, and this isn't meant to make apologies for him, but I don't think you understand the staff Griffin is gonna have compared to Dell.
The Pels are seriously going to restructure and look like a real NBA franchise. They had one full time scout before. Two analytics guys with no real direction. Now they are going to have Scouting and Analytic DEPARTMENTS. A retooled medical staff, a true #2 that Dell hadn't had since Connolly left.
Anyway, just saying. Griffin is a little smarter than Dell, but when he succeeds, it will also be because of all the resources Gayle is granting him.

I was curious as to what the current Analytics situation is with the Pelicans and what an expansion would look like.

Currently, they have two pretty smart guys but no clear direction. They get given assignments occasionally and free lance occasionally and the team doesn't really use the data holistically.
Compare that to an organization that has every department working together and a person running an analytics department with specific goals, working with their coaches, the FO, the director of college scouting, the international scout, the pro player personnel director, etc
Its night and day and its things like this that I was always referring to when I kind of said it was a shite show and a joke behind the scenes. Why this franchise would never win a title, etc.
But Griffin came to the interview and said, "I need this, that and this to run things the right way." And Gayle has said yes to everything so far

Exciting times sons. Finally not operating like a Mickey Mouse operation

It was even worse in the Bower days. He had to do all the grunt work and was only approved for Motel 6's on the road. I am not joking. THAT was a mom and pop organization. Last few years was a step up. Now its looking like they will finally be a real organization
Posted on 4/18/19 at 5:57 pm to Crewz
Yeah we heard all about the Bower days. That was a real shitshow.

It's really amazing the stuff this organization has gone through. From the above Bower stuff, to Shine trying to move the team to OKC, to not being able to make payroll, to having the NBA own the team, to bungling both the CP3 and AD eras...I think we're entitled to some happy years sons.

Seems the AD trade request was a blessing in disguise in that the public criticism forced them to take a look in the mirror.

I am just happy that fans are starting to understand it is so much about the foundation and structure of your franchise. For decades, all fans talked and cared about was the roster but it seems like now people see that sustained winning is about so much more than the players and the head coach. And fans seeing that, along with some great pieces by reporters calling the Pels out, are a big reason why this change was finally made.

Just google LA Clippers front office and you will see all the departments.
Mind blowing.
Then google NO Pelicans FO...

Crewz, why do you think it took this situation for this change to happen? Did Davis never speak his mind about the organizational structure? Was Mrs. B unaware of the pending situation? Or is this a hindsight kind of thing?
