FYI Benson was actually going to move the team. My close friend’s sister dated Joe Horn shortly after he moved back and he said Benson wanted to move the team to San Antonio but the NFL Commissioner made them stay for PR purposes and the amount of revenue the league receives for having the Super Bowl in New Orleans.

Wasn’t trying to break any news! Clearly that was years ago. Just building on another person’s point. Jesus Christ you guys get pissy when you hear facts you don’t agree with.

FYI, if we end up with 2 top 3 picks and the other pieces we get from LA for AD, we would be a better team long term than they would

I agree. I was just pointing out that the Tatum deal is probably dead now with this hiring.

And I would rather deal with Boston than LA

Joe Vardon reported Cleveland would be interested in trading for Gordon Hayward. Could be Part of a trade.

Flip side of that is “For who?”

Not taking Kevin Love no matter what they offer us.

Why is a Boston deal dead? Griffin is a lot closer to Ainge than he is To Pelinka.

Mentioned the JR Smith contract being involved which is only $3/$15 guaranteed. Lots of possibilities including a potential pick swap if they end up at 2.

Things will get fricky if Smith is traded due to current NBA trade rules.

His cap value is $15m but he only counts toward his guaranteed money for trade purposes IIRC.

Not to say that we couldn’t figure out a way to dump Hill for Smith to open up about $10m in cap space, but it doesn’t work as easy as it used to when Houston was sending out like 15 non-guaranteed guys as parts of trades for guys Lou Williams.

David Griffin is about to gift wrap AD to the Lakers. In exchange, the NBA will ring the lottery so that the Pelicans wind up with 2 of the top 3 draft picks. 1 which will be acquired after trading AD to LA. Hope we don't get anything else from them and a third team values the Lakers players far more so we can pick from that squad.

AD to Lakers confirmed with this press conference here today. Congrats to everyone who wanted David Griffin.

Goodbye Tatum trade.

His contract is grandfathered. Counts full amount in a trade.

If it lands zion and ja, that's fine with me.

The trade from the Lakers likely end up being: lotto pick, kuzma, Ingram, Lonzo, financial filler, and future 1st.

Ingram and Lonzo being shipped out for assets. Assume a protected 1st rounder for each and in the process unload hill

PG: Morant/Payton/jackson
SG: Holiday/moore/Jackson
SF: kuzma/Williams/miller
PF: zion/kuzma/diallo
C: Okafor/whoever

Ideally you'd upgrade at center and wing? Lots of assets to get a defensive center like rolo.

Rolo is going to be a free agent.

We could either offer the MLE or shop Hill or Moore to get cap room.

Just listening to some of the presser stuff again. Its kind of crazy how many jobs Griffin has turned down over the years. Says he turned down Jerry West's offer to run Memphis all the way back in 2006.

True, I didn't specifically mean Rolo due to the age discrepancy but realistically MLE or ship out a 2nd with moore/hill to get the space.

Honestly, the way Boston is looking right now it's becoming more intriguing (assuming the small percent chance we lajdn both ja and zion does not occur)
