You have four 25 and under high level core players on the roster now.
One just turned 20 and is still very raw.
One is coming out of a turbulent 4 years with another team where he never could establish himself in a position – assuming he ends up here.
One has not been healthy since the day he put on a uniform that read "New Orleans" across the chest.
Jrue, as it is now, is the most established.
In addition to all four still growing as players, none of these have ever played with each other before sans Davis & Gordon. There will be some growing pains with this team. We are still atleast a year off from really doing damage.

Why today?
We probably gave him a deadline of today because if the Pelicans have to cut Lopez to make the money work they have to do that before Friday. If Tyreke doesn't want to become a Pelican you definitely don't cut Lopez.

I guess I value Ryno a lot more than you because you mistakingly thought Evans was part of the four 25 and under core and not Anderson

This is why I think that we need one more year to get everything together with all the new faces. Remember now Gordon is also brand new to this team, he really has not gotten a chance to mold with anybody on this team yet after being injured for so long. After one year including an offseason Gordon, Holiday, Anderson, Reke? and Davis will be well acclimated to each others playing styles. We could go all in the year after next and be legit contenders for the titles. Especially if we decide to tank half way through due to a lack of winning from not adjusting to each other yet.
Broski I completely agree with your thoughts on this.

Good role player that is best suited off the bench as a 3-pt sniper.

16 ppg scorer with an better than 18 PER is more than just a role player.

But the other side of the argument is if we wait too long, Dell and Monty (who IMO are very good at their jobs) will be the scapegoat. They need to bring a winning atmosphere here. That can be very underrated nowadays. But a winning atmosphere can do wonders for player development.

To clarify, like all of you, I'm high on the potential. We have a core in place that can be special if they remain happy and intact.
However, the centerpiece of that core (Davis) is still growing and is still learning a position that he has only played for the past 4 years. I just don't think he is going to take this massive step that this season that many of you think will put him over the top.

What did Lopez bring that Dalembert, Brandon Wright, Jermaine O'Neal, Ryan Hollins cant?
Scary thing is all those guys are better at doing what centers do than Lopez is. And they're cheaper.

What is Vasquez?

So the FO would cut Lopez when the guy isn't even guaranteed to play for us as the Kings could match. I am surprised the Kings wouldn't be interested in Lopez.

Ryno is going to be so much better this year. If you watched the games last year he was forced into at least 35% of his shots. Give him a young driving pg, along with gordons drives, and maybe tyreke; Ryno will be just chilling on the 3 line collecting wide open baskets. There is just to much talent to only guard Ryno like it happened so often last year. This guy can make some incredible fade-aways and is just absolutely lethal from the 3 point line with him also being a decent offensive rebounder. I have very high expectations for this guy especially since hes young and improving every year.

I honestly don't think we cut Lopez at this point. They will pick up the option and just try everything to move him for cap space or in the S&T.
It is a really tough position. If you cut him to make room for Evans, and then the Kings just match, then you are really in rough shape.

Do we know yet? He's done it one year. I wouldn't call his productivity from last year "role player" quality, it was better than that.

Ryno also very underrated at putting the ball on the floor and creating his own shot. He's a decent, not great rebounder.

He rebounds well offensively, defensively not so much

We don't have a player on those guys' level yet (stretch to even include Curry), we have a huge group of guys who could possibly/probably ascend to a similar level, but not yet.
