If you cut him to make room for Evans, and then the Kings just match, then you are really in rough shape.

Teams like the Thunder will take Lopez once his contract vests.

Worst comes to worst, we can take back a package of picks and players whose cap value is around that of Lopez' declined option, as the Thunder have numerous non-guaranteed contracts and Hasheem Thabeet's partially-guaranteed contract.

Do we know yet? He's done it one year. I wouldn't call his productivity from last year "role player" quality, it was better than that.

Which is why I would say he is a role player, hence why we got Jrue. Anderson is terrible on the defensive end, he needs to be used as a 3-pt specialist not as someone who has to start the game defending other 4's on the blocks.

Protect the rim and rebound. O'neal and Dalembert still have great rebounding rates and can block shots.

Hollins sucks.

Wright is going to be a steal for someone this offseason.

We are talking 20 mpg for one of these guys.

There is a reason Lopez is never in the game during crunch time. Yeah he's a decent offensive center but you need the defense. It's why guys like Splitter and Asik make substantially more than Lopez

I agree in that he needs to be a player that comes off the bench but I don't think that should classify him as a role player.

He's very efficient in that he scores a ton of points without needing the ball a lot and has one of the best TO%'s in the NBA for PF's

You're stretching. The point is small ball can obviously work and may even be becoming the new trend with big man working less and less on refining post games as they're younger. Instead, they play around and try to develop an 18+ foot jumper.

If you can find a way to rebound as a team (which comes down to effort playing small ball), you're not at much of a disadvantage unless you're playing the Memphis Grizzles, who are about the only team is the league to boast a 4/5 low post combo worth a crap.

So we may know today if Tyreke intends to sign the offer sheet.

But that doesn't mean we know if the Kings will match or not, and we won't know until the very last minute. They could say they have no intention to, and then do so at the last minute. Or they can say they have every intention to, and not.

We won't know until the 13th, or if a S&T is worked out quickly.

Why do you think good centers are still the most expensive players on the market?

A good front court will beat a teams 9/10 times, the exception being when you have a generational player.

I agree, give them Lopez/Vasquez if they want them and move on to bigger and better things.

Yea earlier I said just dump Lopez to another team so we could at least get some 2nd rounders or something in return. But I wouldn't want to risk dumping Lopez, only to have the Kings be count and match the offer. So I say just do the S&T with them and not risk it. And who knows, maybe we can still get a 2nd rounder out of Sacramento.

Stephen Curry and Tim Duncan are not "generational players" at this point in their careers.

Pretty stupid on the Kings part, if true.

They should not say a word, and continue to pursue other FAs. If they get one, then they state their intention.

If not, they can always continue to push for a S&T or frick another Western Conference team over by matching at the last minute.

My point is, I don't see anything gained by them telling us shite until the last minute. If I'm the GM, I'm not saying a word. I want to frick the other team over.

@McNamara247: Like I said before, don't plan on figuring all this out until 5th. And now, coincidentally, that is when the Dwight domino will fall as well

McNamara? Come on son.

The only thing I know that happens on the 5th is the Lopez deadline, correct?

Seems that MM is trying to drop a hint that Howard to Hawks may have a shot (as that is where is friend works). He previously said the Hawks would bring in Evans if they signed Howard. MM knows no more than anyone else. He is just guessing based on the information at hand - Lopez's contract becomes guaranteed on July 5.

And it took him 4 years before he came out as a "star" in the playoffs.

Only a few guys change a franchise in a year or two. (aka Shaq and LeBron) Hell, it took Jordan two seasons to get to the playoffs and he lost to the Bucks in 4 games and was swept by the Celtics for two years. Kobe took forever to become a good player.

SLOOOOOOOOWWWW DOWWWWWWN people. Let's just hope to be in the playoff race this year rather than expecting us to be in the Finals.

They have nothing to gain by not doing it.

If they lose out on all other Free Agents, then they match Tyreke at the very last second. Another Western Conference team doesn't get stronger and is left scrambling to find other options.

Seems like a win for them.
