Well if we don't sign Tyreke we don't get rid of Lopez.
Well then we are basically last year's team with an upgrade at point guard.

Yea but if we dont do a S&T, we'd have to move him before we officially sign Tyreke. And to do that, we'd have to make sure whatever we get in return will leave us with enough room to sign Tyreke.
And Lopez is only making around 5 million next year so that would probably clear just enough space to get Evans. So for those hoping to get a C in return will probably be pissed if/when we trade Lopez.

frick no. We are winning games regardless of Tyreke Evans this year. It sucks to suck. Ask the Kings, Bobcats, Pistons, etc. how awesome it is to tank every year.
Thats why I said evaluate it at half way point of season...

Any Lopez move regarding Tyreke that isn't a S&T is going to be a salary dump. It'll probably be for a draft pick. I'd prefer the S&T route though because then when we do get rid of our only center we know we are getting the player we want in return.

No we'd still be a very different team. Like you said, we'd have a upgrade at PG. But we'd also have EG fully healthy (knocks on wood), and our young guys more developed. Sometimes, all it takes is patience for a young team.

Do you really think a Davis/Anderson frontcourt can 1) Consistently defend the blocks and 2) Stay healthy?

I can guarantee you that we will pick up a cheap center once the Tyreke move is completed. Demps isn't going into the season with no centers on the roster. I think Samuel Dalembert is a FA so we could get him on a cheap contract to play 20 mpg.

Exactly, which is why I think all this win now stuff should be about a year or 2 later.
Davis is still raw, we have no idea about Gordon on anything really, Jrue is coming into a new system, the rest of the team is by no means an established group of guys.
We are still in building mode and going all in too early can kill any progress.

meh, I'd rather the draft pick. Sure, we're "giving him away for nothing" but I'd rather lose Lopez and get Evans + draft picks than lose Lopez and simply get Evans. It doesn't make that big of a difference since they would be 2nd rounders but it's still better

I mean, if we are really trying to win now, we have to get a center that is worth a shite and not just a space filler to say "hey, we have a center on the team."
Not going to find many mediocre-to-decent centers that are cheaper than Lopez.

In general perimeter defense and P&R defense were the achilles heel's last year, so I'd say a minimum center, a more experienced AD and Jrue could very well be a better defense than last year's where teams could destroy us with P&R vs Vasquez and Lopez.

We could wind up using GV to trade for a center, too. I'm sure Demps has something planned out for after Tyreke. He isn't just going all in on Tyreke and then trying to scramble to finish the roster.

Normally, I'd agree with you. But so far, the moves we've made/are making are for two 23 year olds who would be on long term deals. So it's not like we're putting a cap on how good we can be with these moves. If we were giving a max to Iggy, then I'd feel like we were "going all in too early"

You have four 25 and under high level core players on the roster now.
They are no longer in building mode.

What did Lopez bring that Dalembert, Brandon Wright, Jermaine O'Neal, Ryan Hollins cant?
He's a 7' with a terrible rebound rate... lets stop over-valuing him because he wore a Hornet uniform

Dalembert pissed and moaned about his lack of touches on offense last season, IIRC.
Not a good sign for a guy who is seen as a good defender but a piss-poor offensive talent.

Yeah, we aren't sacrificing the future for win at all costs now. The guys we have made moves for are all guys with potential down the road.

Throw a Wilcox in there, too.

Offense. Blocks and a big body were about the only thing Lopez brought to the defense. That is easy enough to replace.

Mason Ginsberg ?@MasonGinsberg 1m RT @mr_jasonjones Today should be fun. Tyreke Evans will probably agree to sign N.O. offer sheet barring a last-minute offer from the Kings.
