Not saying to give them an unprotected Top 5 pick but a lottery protected 1st and 2nds could get that done.
Has anyone let Joe know you can put protections on a traded pick??

The idea of giving the #7 pick and some seconds for Turner in the year of our lord 2026

I agree with you. The truth is we don’t have any good moves to make. Better to make no moves than force a bad one.
The disappointment is because there doesn’t seem to be any long term plan. Dumars and Weaver are either: making it up as they go, or lie constantly (for no reason). I get subterfuge is necessary for GM’s but he literally says different things every time he speaks.
Good NBA GM’s are like chess players- they think multiple moves ahead and have counters as the board changes. Dumars seems way out of his depth

Would I give up our only 3 2nd round picks in the next 7 years?
This a serious response? We are gatekeeping 2nd rd picks 7 years out on a bottom 5 team? Wild.

And not sure where the Hauser talk is coming from, we have plenty of wings, only reason to trade for him is if we’re trading Trey or Herb to Boston, which in that case Boston would be sending us picks.
We do not have a primary bench shooter on the roster. Herb isn't a shooter and Bey should be starting. Successful teams usually have guys that can shoot AND guys that can shoot who replace them.
If you put Trey/ Bey at SF rotation then our SG rotation for the future is Herb/ McGowens..... I'd rather have the option of Hauser off the bench for (5-6) 2nds > relying on Herb for any offense at all.
Hauser fits into our NTMLE if we move Hawk. You are talking about adding a legit missing roster piece without giving up any real assets and you wouldn't do it because of a 2nd rd picks in 2032.
Pels fans are weird man. Desperate to upgrade but desperate to keep 2nd rd picks and absolutely no inbetween.
Gatekeep Jose who was unplayable in several playoff games and then gatekeep 2nds vs adding Hauser who was a strong piece on a championship winning team.
Trade Zion but by all means keep all the 2nd rd picks!
I would have thought people were more hesitant to trade a protected 1st for Turner > 2nds for Hauser.
I guess key pieces from championship contending teams are not an ideal fit???

I honestly don’t know what the vision for this roster is. There’s good players and talent but not sure how it all fits. Also, I genuinely believe none of the reporters or insiders have an idea as well. So, it’s really hard to understand what’s going on.
The best move for this offseason would be to move Herb Jones. It’s a good player in his prime that could still net us a first round pick or two. Also, I believe Bey would be taking his place anyways so it would be wise to move him at peak value. However, it’s the Pels so take that into consideration. Getting a legit center would be good too.

Correct. No one does.
Which is why all of this is so frustrating.
We have win now players, we just don't win.
We have young players that need developing.
We have young players that are good.
We have great future draft assets.
If we want to win now, then trading Herb is silly b/c Herb affects winning.
If we want to win now, then trading Trey is silly b/c he's a good young player on a great contract.
But if we want to win now, we need a star player on the roster, and we don't have that b/c Zion isnt' that guy. Are we goign to try to get that guy? Hell I'd be open to trading Fears or Queen if it meant getting that guy and going all in on winning now. That's not what i would prefer to do, but at least it's a plan.
If we aren't interested in winning now, then it's silly to not trade Trey as well as Herb right now. And it would be wise to trade Zion at the trade deadline, regardless of what the offer is for. If we are wanting to go in a new direction, then Zion has to go, just like BI had to go. Neither of them worked out as the guy, or even the 1a 1b guy. Until you find that guy your just tickle farting around.

I hear folks beating the drum to trade Herb and possibly understand it for what he could get in return. But if you're a defense first coach, are you really gonna trade the best defender on your roster?
Posted on 7/9/26 at 2:11 pm to Albatross47
I mean not necessarily. But are we trying to win now (then keep him) or rebuild for the future (trade him for a first rounder and pick YOUR GUY to be the best defender in the draft )? Like we said it’s frustrating because you can’t both and it feels like they are.

In this new CBA 2nd round picks are more valuable than ever for teams looking to move off salary. Look at the players traded as salary dumps for 2nds.
Isiah Stewart
Isiah Joe (one of the best shooters in the league)
Aaron Wiggins
Caris Levert
All guys that could help us out. That’s why at this junction we need to figure out how to get more of them, not trade off the only 3 we have when there’s teams with 20 of them in the next 7 years. Boston won’t trade Hauser unless they’re getting Herb or Trey back, and we shouldn’t attach any picks for Turner since we are taking on that extra salary.

Including us. He reminds the fans of how much time and money we have wasted since he joined this team. We're all just ready for him to be gone

Dan Woike: The Lakers have agreed to a deal with Ziaire Williams, team and league sources say. New Orleans had made a push in recent days to sign the 25-year-old, but the chance to play for his hometown Lakers in a winning situation has him headed to LA.

I guess we're not after a big or a 3 ball shooter with that last spot.

See guys, they tried really hard it just didn't work out

Giving Zaire WIlliams a 1 year 3 million deal is an absolute overpay and the Lakers are idiots. You never sign a player or trade for one in the first couple weeks of free agency because you always overpay. Every single team in the league that signed or traded for a player the past few weeks was an overpay and it will not work out for them. We were the only smart team.
Accidently giving Deandre Jordan 3 million dollars is not a big deal we couldn't have used that money on anyone anyway. Three million will get you no one, it was good we threw it away.
Signed,
Dan

The defenders to the death of this dogshit franchise just boggle the mind.
We should always call balls and strikes.
I am glad that they didn't do anything overly stupid. They didn't do some crazy trade that would set the franchise back a decade. They didn't go for some convoluted signing that was huge but wouldn't have done much for us. They made valuations and stuck to them. Those are good things.
The bad I could go on for 10 pages but I will give them that

It would have taken us way more than 3 million to sign Williams…

He signed for 3 mil with the Lakers. It was down to the pels and Lakers. He said he signed there to be closer to home.

So like four million?
Would have just added depth so it's not like he would have been a difference maker but it seems like the team just has no interest in getting better in any way so it's not surprising they didn't beat the Lakers offer. The Lakers unfortunately have had a good offseason.
