Pelicans are the only team in the league to not add a single player from another roster

Every single other franchise, even the ones that have been relatively quiet, have added at least one player from another roster, either by FA or Trade.

We kept 14 players last year and currently have 13... So we have 1 roster spot and one of the top 5 youngest NBA rosters.
We are upset that they haven't added a random bench player for $6mil? This is as bad as the guy being upset we missed out on Drummond.
Everyone would be upset if we over paid in a trade the last few weeks and yet everyone is upset that didn't overpay in a trade the last few weeks.

The 4 most likely outcomes are:
1. Trade Poole/ Hawk
2. Trade for M Turner
3. Trade Herb
4. Trade Trey
Not a single thing has happened to prevent any of the most likely scenarios this offseason. So wtf is everyone bitching about?
Dumars could sneeze and y'all would be able to attribute that to negativity impacting the Pelicans.

No
We are upset b/c we are running it back with a team who wasn’t, and isn’t any good.

I'm confused.. are we trying to compete for 10th in the West or develop our young guys and continue to clear out cap space?

Dumars said this after the season was finished
quote:that’s after a 26-56 season and losers 9 of their last 10 games .. delusional
“We’re not rebuilding. We have enough talent. We need to become more consistent and healthier, and then we should be a playoff team.”

I'm for player development, and growing with in. only lebron james came in and dominant right away and even he didn't win a ring until he went to miami. theres 0 expecting that this team will win significant games this year. so why try make moves for that goal. No one wanted Zion or he'd be gone. No one wants to pay the price for Trey or he'd be gone. So what we have is a internal growth year, develop our young core and instill winning habits and get better. We all know we only won 26 games and lost the last 9 or what ever boo whoo get over it. its a new coach this year, lets see if he can light these players up.

Delusional but teams were wanting to trade for players on this roster

I'm upset because we haven't even won 50 games combined the last two seasons and are the only team to not attempt to improve the roster. Other teams haven't had an issue trading their players, are we grossly overvaluing ours?

Other teams haven't had injury luck/ issues like we have. Did other teams trade for a player who immediately tore his Achilles? Did they have a #1 pick who has barely played and missef playoff appearances?
Are you being honest with yourself when you try to envision us trading Zion for a Ja Morant package??? People on here would lose their mind.
Every person here wants Z gone and also knows the value is so low that its not worth it. And yet, the same people would still cheer for the trade and then freak out about the value.

Are we grossly overvaluing the decision to keep players that other playoff teams currently value and want? Obviously no because that doesn't make sense.
There's a world where we trade for Wemby and still are "running it back" not becauae of who we added but because people are so ate up with distain for players on the roster.
We will add Turner and a SG and people will 100% start "running it back" threads because of who is still here and not who we added.

Why would a trade have to be an overpay? I guess Dumars is only capable of overpaying? There can be a difference between overpaying and inactivity. Virtually nothing we could do would make us competitive this year, but we have done nothing to even brighten the outlook of the future. And it seems that the GM thinks this team is capable of making the playoffs, which is pretty worrisome.

If we don’t make the playoffs. Then you’re looking at the lottery with possibly the Bucks being bad this year. So there’s a possibility of 2 in the Top 4. Then you also have tradeable assets in Murphy, Herb, and Dejounte. While Poole and Hawkins are set to come off the books. Build around the Fears, Queen, Lottery pick and assets you get from trades. If Mosley comes in and our players somehow take another step then great. But this is Mosley’s first year and really the front office first year with their staff. So I don’t blame Dumars for not just wanting to blow everything up and give Mosley nothing

Its the start of the offseason and trades. So teams are taking highest bidders and/ or overpaying to get their guy. Anyone who isn't willing to overpay is currently discussing trades and hasn't made moves. We don't have money, space, or a need for FA until trades are made.
Inactivity immediately after a new sports season begins has a direct correlation to choosing to not overpay for players. And that's in just about all sports leauges.

So I am supposed to believe that the Pelicans are the only team that is making the right choice? That every other team except us, and I mean every single team, has overpaid for the players they got simply because it's early in free agency? There was just absolutely nothing we could do except sit on our hands to make the team better? Joe is playing chess when the entire rest of the NBA is playing checkers. Got it.

So honest question: How does our current roster compare to last year's Orlando Roster?
Just curious, as that kinda should set the expectations.

This simply isn't true. There is a metric out there that combines time missed and cumulative salary and Indiana led that metric this season for example, mainly due to Haliburton. Pelicans were 15th, perfectly average.
They were second last season, I'll give you that, but if you're 15th this past season you should be considerably better than your W/L record. They've actually made out quite well in seasons before as well.

If you wanted Dumars to make some moves to try to win this year then I'd understand why you are upset, but I don't think running it back is the worst idea ever. If we are bad again then we will get a really high (potentially number 1 overall) pick from either us or the Bucks, Poole and Hawkins contracts expire, you can deal Murphy/Herb at the deadline, and Zion/Dejounte both become expiring contracts and much easier to move next offseason. This would put us in a good spot to begin the rebuild around Fears, Queen, a high draft pick, and whatever we get from trading Trey and Herb.
Best case scenario we are actually good. That would probably mean Fears, Queen, or Zion took a serious step forward and we still may get a high pick from the Bucks.

:runitback: we are a poverty franchise man. The sooner people accept that the better they will be. I did a few years ago. I enjoy going to the games and watch them on TV when I can. Outside of that I have ZERO expectations. My life has been better ever since.
