well nevermind then. As Lebron continues to age, the lakers dont get any better going into next year. But hey, im all good with Lakers gradual decline the next few years.

Just looked it up. Lebron has 2 more years after this season for the Lakers.

Yea he signed a 2 year extension so he is signed till 22’23. 41m cap hit 21’22 and 44m 22’23. They will have 95m tied up with LeBron, Streetclothes and Kuzma in 2022’23

Doubtful they will be able to bring back both Schroeder and Caruso. Both will be paid significantly more than what they are right now.

They will have their first this year to shop and I’m sure Kuzma again as assets to try and upgrade lol. Good luck with that. They will be in trouble soon enough.

Exactly they are stuck now. The genius of Griff is showing now. We control their pick for the next 3 out 4 years after this draft. Either they can’t trade a pick that can be swapped or it will be worth way less. Let the trade rape commence

I would say the odds of Griff convincing someone to trade a good player definitely went up tonight. One of the potential issues for Griff this offseason is there didn't look like there would be many sellers. But with the Lakers assets looking more promising he should be able to shake someone loose.

They also have Horton-Tucker who they love so much they refused to include him in trade offers (supposedly). He’s restricted but money will be so tight that a decent offer sheet could easily pry him away.

Heck, we should throw one at him just to squeeze them.

Yea I just went to Lakers Reddit and they know that they are screwed. They got their Mickey Mouse title and now it’s time make them pay for that phony title when we get the ‘22 pick ‘23 swap and ‘24 or ‘25 pick. Just imagine if we somehow luck into the 1st pick this year too.

I believe we have the 2021 pick instead of the 2022 pick. 2021 was Top 8 protected. Since it’s not in that range, I believe we get that pick

No, the 2021 pick was reverse-protected, meaning that we would get it if it were top-8.

Since that didn't happen, the pick will convey next year as an unprotected first.

You could argue that our Laker picks are at their highest value right now. Everyone sees the decline decline coming. May make sense to trade them NOW for a star before Rich Paul and the NBA pull a rabbit out of the hat to keep the Lakers in championship contention.

Schroeder not signing that extension hurts us.

While the Lakers are likely in a bad spot, teams can easily manipulate rules and get back quicker than people expect. Especially glamour franchises like the Lakers that just have luck fall into their lap constantly.

Speaking of luck falling into their laps, the buy-out market needs a MASSIVE overhaul.

As it stands it's basically a pipeline for glamour markets and super teams to load up cheap vet talent that most of the time, smaller markets had to clog up their rosters with overpays to get there.

And yeah, Schroeder being a fricking moron really helps LA now. Since they will have a much easier time adding some role playing talent to the team.
