I guess maybe from their perspective, SGA is a really great player but not a generational cornerstone type. If they could get us to pay a significant sum for him, they basically control the market to an even greater degree for whatever stars become available for the next however many years. We're the next closest thing in terms of assets, but if you take 3-4 of our first rounders they become the only show in town. They could trade away 10 first rounders in an off-season without blinking

Zo and 2nd to chicago
White, Kira, and 3 1sts to okc
Sga to nola

Is that legal? Can you combine S&Ts into bigger deals? I thought they were one shots deals..

I would try:

Pels 21
Lakers 22
Pels 22 swap
Pels 23
Bucks 25
Pels 25 swap

ETA: might be a bit much, but they have the leverage. We don’t have any leverage

are you shitting me?

He's not an top 5 player in the league. You're about 4 assets too many on that starting point.

You think that they would trade SGA for Lewis and two 1sts?

ETA: if that's available and Griff hasn't jumped on it immediately, he should be fired

Like any all star? Who could they realistically bring in that will move the needle enough to get them to at least the conference finals?

Are there any Pelicans beat writers that are legitimately good? I like Shamit, but im not even sure what he is considered. I like Andrew Lopez but he's not really exclusively Pelicans. Kosel and Clarke are pretty good. Ellis, Fisher and Mackel are just terrible. Almost all of the podcast guys are terrible.

It like they all get on one subject and cant think for themselves. Right after the SVG firing, %90 of them immediately want TSpoon as the coach before even knowing that she wasnt even really a candidate. Now they are all in unison with Clarles Lee. I dont know enough about Lee to argue against him but none of these guys give the reader much to think about.

Yep. One way or another, Lillard is going to upset the apple cart and put all kinds of pieces in play.

no, but that's where you start.

I'd max out at Kira and 4 firsts, and i don't even know how great i feel about that. I'd be comfortable at Kira and 3 firsts, with the third one being lottery protected.

If you trade that many firsts, especially this years 1st, and Kira, you rid yourself of young talent, present and future. That means after that trade, you better be a 2nd round team at a minimum. Does trading for SGA make us a 2nd round team or better?

SGA is available to sign a 5/$168M max extension this offseason, and now we hear he might be available for trade. Maybe OKC isn't interested in giving him that, just like Cleveland isn't interested in giving Sexton a max extension. once you sign that extension, you can't be traded for a year.
Do you think SGA is worth $34M/yr? Do you realize if you get him and sign him to that, then you'll have BI/SGA/Zion making $100M+/yr in 2 years. We'd have zero flexibility, so i ask again, is SGA going to make us a championship contender? Is that who you want to unload the war chest on?

I’d love to keep Shai and NAW together that would be so fun

I really don’t understand what the Thunder are doing if they trade Shai. Guy is what like 23-24? They are acting like he’s 30. I think the picks you outlined are probably fair, but why the hell would OKC want more draft picks? They already have like 25 in the next 8 years. Shai is a really good player and great guy and that type of player doesn’t necessarily grow on trees.

If I’m OKC, and I’m trading Shai, the only type of trade I’m looking for is packaging Shai and maybe a pick or 2 to get #1 and select Cade. That’s the only thing that makes sense. Moves your timeline back a couple years, but also guarantees your haul for Shai at least includes a future all star.

I mean we’d have 3 young stars under the age of 24.

Vs do some bullshite like trade for Kevin Love as our big move this offseason, that blow up, and end up having to trade Zion after year 3.

If Shai is available, you go get him if you can. You offer all of the firsts. I don’t see who we can get that is better and/or equal and would cost less.

Ideally we wouldn’t need to trade for a 3rd star, but we’ve already seen our 2 guys arent quite ready to carry the load alone and might not be for awhile given their seemingly fragile and uncoachable mentalities.

They shouldn't be. Locking into SGA as your top dog is doomed to fail like Butler in Chicago and George in Indy.

He's a big 2 way guard that shoots the 3 well (37% career, 41% last season), was 2nd behind Fox in points off drives per game at 13.3, got to the line 6.5 times a game shooting 80%.

How good his defense is, leadership, handle, crunch time creation are all things I'd want to know more about before trading half the warchest for him, but on the surface he has almost everything the Pels are looking for.
