i do not understand wanting to move zinger at all, regardless of return. if PHX gets him for
1) a player they dont want
2) a player they have no idea will be any good
3) a pick they have no idea will be any good
the rest of the league should protest

the Knicks are dysfunctional. Phil is insistent on running the triangle in 2017. it's like they see Vivek and the Pacers and Dan Gilbert stealing headlines and are like "forgot about Dolan"
as for the return/protest....i dunno
the Pels got Cousins for Buddy Hield, spare parts, and #10. Cousins was obviously much more toxic than Zinger, but he is a better player. the Lakers may get Paul George for Clarkson, Randle, and #28.
if the Knicks had any sense (they obvously wouldnt be trading Porzingis), they would look to flip Melo wherever just to get him out of there. build around #4 (i'd take Fox), #8, Chriss. then look to flip Bledsoe later on.

Spurs and George Hill reportedly have mutual interest in free agency.

I'm sure they would love to do that but Melo's no trade clause is hurting that plan

would be very Spursy for Gasol to opt out and then to get Hill to come back (Pop seems to love that dude) at a discount.

right. that's why i said just send him out wherever. get whatever you can from LAL or CLE or whoever.
addition by subtraction. it's clearly toxic between him and Jackson. if you're dumping Porzingis to reload with young guys, why have that mess hanging over everything?

Yeah Melo will just wait them out. What does he care? He knows he's not a positive to the Knicks. He knows he eats up cap space. Just wait and he'll likely get to choose any team he wants.

Spurs are looking to move Aldridge

Any team trading for LaMarcus Aldridge has to know it can re-sign him. Which surely hampers San Antonio's efforts to acquire a top-10 pick
Phoenix might be the only team holding a top-10 pick that could acquire Aldridge with confidence that it isn't just a one-year engagement.

Can't trade 2018 1st, I thought. Since we traded this years.

Can the league just stand pat and not play the Spurs stupid games for once?

We can't right now, but it will become available for trades as soon as our pick is used by Sacramento. There may be a slight delay, but you can't have trade 2 consecutive "future" picks. Once the draft happens, this year's pick is no longer a future pick.
That said, I'm not sure I'd do the Porzyngis for Cousins and a 1st deal.

Incorrect.
Actually he is correct. Can't uses the present tense "can." We currently cannot trade the 2018 1st. We will be able to trade the pick in the near future, but we current cannot.

You kidding? A younger player who has a higher ceiling than boogie plus 14 million extra in cap space? AD+KP would be absolutely insane, plus big money for FA's. Why would you be in the least bit hesitant?

I think AD/KP is a good on court match, but we know AD/DC is a good off court match. If Cousins resigns next year I'm pretty confident AD will sign the new big money extension even if they were just the 8 seed. If they were just the 8 seed with KP, I'm a lot less certain that AD extends immediately rather than waiting and seeing how good they get.

re rubio
do it dell
wish holiday the best, thanks for the fish, and move on

The Rubio contract has value, $14.m and $14.8m. Teams need to ask: If Rubio was a FA would you pay 2 yrs/$28m for a 26 year old starting PG.

The Celtics remain in trade pursuit of Kristaps Porzingis, league sources say, trying to assemble a package to meet the Knicks' demands.

I haven't done the math, but this would get us somewhere around 25 mill in cap space without signing jrue. Have to think we could be better than the 8 seed with that. I know this trade would never happen, but still, that would be incredibly intriguing.

Makes too much sense. They can maintain most of their core, have max cap space, and still build for the future. He is the exact type of player for which they have been hoarding all of these assets.
