I believe Irving would leave like $50 mil on the table if he didn’t resign w BOS. Even still, rozier would only have a year left at that point

I think there is obviously nothing to this speculation regardless

No, it's a baseless rumor of course. Just fun to talk about.

I don't see them keeping both. Rozier continues his play he'd demand Marcus Smart money IMO. I think they'd be wise to keep cap space open for a move on a guy like Butler next season or Kawhi versus paying Rozier and running it back again.

Me

Boston is not interested in a pick. They want roster full of playable vets.

Jackson and Ajinca wont fit there.

Also Rozier is a piece which they will likely include in their future AD package.

This shite will return in a year. No matter of Pels results.

Danny will be prepeared.

F.e. Smart deal is good for such purposes.

I don't believe Rozier is good. I really don't. Any guy they put in that role, in that system greatly outperforms his past or future (when they move on elsewhere) vs. other systems. I'll keep Payton and Frank Jackson and use assets for a wing. Not Terry Rozier.

Agreed. Not a huge fan of rozier that he's this up and coming guard.

He can score, but they turned IT into nearly 30ppg scorer. He cannot defend. He can't really facilitate.

Sure this is accurate? Yogi Ferrell isn't on the list and he was unsigned until just now.

Rosier is better than Devin Harris. But the opportunity cost on Harris is nil.

I just don't move that first rounder unless it gets me a very good wing and/or it gets me off Hill's contract and gets me a solid guy for this year. Like, Hill, Ajinca, and a pick for Demarre and Dinwiddie

the 2019 pick may be the last chance to get a real SF before its nut cutting time with AD

They have between now and Feb of 2020 to get that elusive wing. And they have one chance to get it right, so it needs to be the right guy.

I would say they will have the most to offer in Feb of 2020, if they can wait until then. Hill and Moore will be expiring. They would have, in theory, the guy they took in 2019 to include in the trade, plus Frank Jackson, plus their 2020 pick. But I highly doubt they wait until then.

Waiting for 2019 free agency is risky. Odds are always against them to land a real needle mover in free agency.

It seems like they will pick somebody between December and February of this upcoming year. Here's hoping they pick the right guy.

I hope Washington falters early and Otto Porter becomes available in the face of tax payments. Would very much prefer him to Barnes.

I think the "ideal" small forward also depends on which Jrue we get moving forward. If he is the Jrue we saw in the playoffs, I would prefer slightly slower usage, more defense, rebounding, playmaking, etc. If he is closer to the guy we saw in the regular season (good, but not an elite scorer), I might lean more towards a scorer who might not be as strong in the other categories

I understand that and agree that Otto lacks the aggression to be a real 3rd star (hence his projected availabiity) and if AD and (more so) Jrue revert to their more passive nature, then we need a wing that can create shots.

I want to believe Jrue matured mentally from the playoff series and will maintain the more aggressive mindset even if he is not quite as locked in. I also think that Otto has some growth left in that department which may be unlocked with a change of scenery and a different offensive/team philosophy.

Watching Porter when Wall was out felt like like he fits seamlessly with the Gentry/Erman identity. His passive nature is the reason Washington would dump him, but I think he became complacent letting things come to him there submitting to the big egos/personalities of Wall/Beal. I think our coaching staff having dealt with passive stars would be a bit better suited to encouraging aggression in him than Brooks that just wanted him to take it on himself to get more shots, same goes for our players.

Middleton sounds like that guy to me. I think he can be whatever you want him to be. If you want him to get you 20 PPG he can do that. If you want him to defend the opponent’s SF and give you 6-7 boards while putting up 17 PPG. I think he can do that as well. He’s pretty multi-dimensional and has great length to guard positions 2-4.

Agree - If Jrue is playoff Jrue, I would say Otto and Middleton would be 1a and 1b on my wish list. If he isn't playoff Jrue, Jimmy Butler would top my list. Barnes over Porter in that scenario too

a rosy review of julius randle's game/fit on TBW today

LINK

quote:

The barrel-chested power forward averaged the 10th most shot attempts inside the restricted area per game last season. In comparison, Anthony Davis finished 5th, DeAndre Jordan, 12th, and Rudy Gobert, 14th — although Randle would have surpassed everyone on the list of qualifiers but for Clint Capela if minutes were equalized across the board.

quote:

An astounding 87% of Randle’s shot attempts came from inside the painted area, and he was as effective as Capela near the rim; however, the best part may be the fact that opponents have known what’s been coming at them for three years yet are unable to slow down the burly menace below the free throw line

quote:

Yet, since posting a meager 48.2% True Shooting percentage in his first full season, Randle has gone on to produce a 54.3 TS% and, most recently, a 60.6 TS%. Despite living solely in the paint and getting his shot blocked 104 times last season, Randle’s TS% was beefier than that of Nikola Jokic, DeMarcus Cousins or Joel Embiid — players who have proven the ability to knock down the three-point shot. In fact, only Karl-Anthony Towns, LeBron James, Kevin Love and Anthony Davis finished with a higher TS% while also posting a minimum of 16 points and eight rebounds per game. The highly potent combination of converting attempts inside the paint at a high rate and frequently getting to the free throw line (7.0 FTA per 36 minutes last season) have overcome an inability to adequately shoot from the perimeter — but it may not stay that way forever.

Combine that with Kumar's report about efficient Gentryball scoring and this is starting to look like a team where the fit may finally be good enough to make them better than the sum of their parts.
