I don’t think you need to be signed to play in the summer league. The same way guys off the street are on the squad. It’s up to the player and their agents to play. We did the same thing during NAW and Hayes rookie year when they came right after the trade was finalized and wasn’t under contract at the time.

In 2019, summer league players got paid $1500 + expenses. 
It might be a little higher now.

FYI, Frank only shot 30% from 3 last season, and the Pistons dumped him and he's now a UFA.
