Not sure if they are or not, but if the Hawks are more interested in picks than BI, maybe there’s some 3 team framework where we send BI to the Sixers for 3 picks and Reed, and then send those picks over to Atlanta with 4 or so picks of our own for Trae.

Insanity

Trae Young made one, 3rd team All-NBA in his apex year (21-22). Otherwise he's around the 30-40 range.

The Ringer just updated their player rankings and Ingram is 34 (with the playoff update specifically) and Trae is 35

Even if we want to say BI is worth slightly less than Bridges (even though they are similar 3rd/4th options on really good teams. For note, Bridges is ranked 50 by the Ringer), that's giving up a serviceable starter/great backup, and something like 8, 1sts, for a guy who isn't an all-NBA guy and is probably in the mid-20s at his peak.

Houston: BI/ Capella

Hawks: Adams/ Brooks/Tate/ Nance/ #3/ (4) pels 1st/ 2 pels swaps

Pels: Trae/ Whitmore/ Landale/ Eason

Allows Hawks to take #1 and #3 with a future war chest.

Obviously this could also include Hawk/ Green/ Dyson/more picks. Some players would also get swapped but this would be the most likely (3) team scenario I could think of with the value to get it done.

They only updated players who played in the playoffs, so they kept Trae where he was, but Ingram dropped 5 spots due to playoff performance.

Trae has a lot of variability in where he could fall in an NBA ranking, he could be top 15 or 40. BI has less variability but also has less upside. Fit also matters more than just pure talent, Trae is a much better fit with Zion than BI, which is why he would be worth more to the Pels than BI.

I don’t think NBA GMs give 2 shits about Bill Simmons The Ringer rankings when it comes to trades. This is may be what you depend on to evaluate NBA players but again likely doubt others look at this when making NBA trades.

Yes and if we can get them #3 and a future war chest then they can start that rebuild asap.

They woud have #1 + #3 + plethora of future 1sts+ whatever they can get for Murray if they choose to sell.

They could take Risacher and still be guaranteed 1 of Clingan/ Sarr

Multiple 1sts and a starter or prospect better? That's a reach.

And this is all ignoring the whole "including Herb" insanity. Ingram and Herb is worth a good bit more than Trae

It's just one measuring stick. I imagine most other rankings have similar ranges.

Trae was a fringe top-15 guy but as time went on the truth was revealed about him and he's slid since then. His peak seems to be in that mid-20s range.

I'd do that deal in a heartbeat.

This board has lost its damn mind in the middle of the night. People are so desperate to just make any move.

quote:

Call up Trajan and send CJ for Ivey and a S&T of Wiseman (4/35) with 2 2nds,

And now people want to give James Wiseman money. That’s not even a legal trade. We’ve reached peak offseason.

They over-value Trae bigly. That's the issue. They think he's an elite player when he's nowhere near that.

I saw that on my phone while making coffee and told myself I need to see wtf Wiseman did to get that deal (I forgot in the process until this quote in your post)

I’m not going to do BI + 3 first round picks for Trae. That’s just crazy. People forget that BI is still a top 10 SF in the league.

People complain about dinosaur bigs then want to throw money at a guy who has gotten played off the floor constantly for being too slow.

I've said it a million times, I would not trade Herb in any trade for Trae, it wouldn't make sense.

I also don't value first round picks a ton.

Yeah I just don’t think NBA GMs think like this. Fit matters. What your team needs matters. Chemistry matters. Contracts matter. Health matters.

Just ranking players randomly and having media give their assessment on a player without understanding team dynamics or even circumstances isn’t really a tool most NBA GMs use. Its for the fan base more than anyone else. You’re strictly holding him to a ranking based off something you read in media article.

Lets be honest if you think some truth was revealed about Trae, then this season revealed some truths about BI as well.

I get that, but it's the standard currency post-AD trade. We need them to get an actual elite player to pair with Zion and not a Trae Young-type of player

Because they’re tired of five years of mediocrity. Why are we trying so hard to keep guys together who barely made the play-in? People are acting like we’re breaking up a championship squad.

No thanks! We need his leadership and shooting. I would rather deal BI.
