Literally not what was done, but OK you can create a straw man.

Lets be honest if you think some truth was revealed about Trae, then this season revealed some truths about BI as well.
Again, literally already covered in the article.
BI is who he is. The problem is that Trae is who he is, but lots of hopium on here thinks he has this upside that he has never actually shown.
Trae is not going to fix his numerous issues, at this point. Hell, I don't even think we can rationally project his shooting improving due to his mandated style of play (he's no CJ who will mold his game for our needs and efficiency).

We need them to get an actual elite player to pair with Zion and not a Trae Young-type of player
Yeah you mean guys like Donovan Mitchell or Paul George or Jimmy Butler who have no interest in coming here. Reality is there aren’t a lot of elite players wanting to be traded to New Orleans.

Sign and trade, meaning not until after the draft.
I’m not opposed to this as long as we have other minutes filled at point / wing after CJ and BI go, meaning in concert with a Murray or Trae deal most likely.
Lot of shooters in that lineup today the least.

Why are we trying so hard to keep guys together
Nobody is advocating for sitting still. That's a straw man.
They just want to actually improve our chances and trying to get actually elite players.

I’m not going to do BI + 3 first round picks for Trae.
Even if those picks are the 21 this year, our 1st in 25, and the lesser of our pick or the MIL pick in 27?

Because they’re tired of five years of mediocrity. Why are we trying so hard to keep guys together who barely made the play-in?
The straw man strikes again

I knew the strawman excuse was coming from you. Just a matter time- its your go to anytime someone disagrees with you lol

We need his leadership and shooting. I would rather deal BI
What the frick is the point of drafting players/ trading picks if everything always relies on 1 aging veteran that isn't our best player.
I love CJ but holy shite some of y'all have to let go of the attachments. Its a business.

If you can get Claxton and Cam Johnson for CJ Nance and picks you have to do that. Then flip BI for Murray.
Murray, Herb, Trey, Zion, Clax
with hawkins cam johnson dyson off the bench

Here comes everyone who disagrees with me is a strawman and I dont like Trae because of The Ringer rankings.

Agree with you here Dante. People are attached to players on this team like they won championships or something.

Not dinosaurs like George or Butler.

Reality is there aren’t a lot of elite players wanting to be traded to New Orleans.
Then we should be focusing on smart moves where we don't overpay, if that's the goal.
What is the point of paying the price of a super elite guy for a guy like Trae who is not elite, let alone super elite?

When people disagree with me with a straw man, I accurately point out the logical fallacy.

Who??!!
Paul George, Donovan Mitchell and Butler are out there. But you know why they aren’t linked to us? They have no interest in coming here- thats reality. Trae was one of the few that has interest in coming here and has a connection to Zion.

You do this on not just this board but Saints board as well and then act like you won the discussion instead of having a normal debate.

Trae Young made one, 3rd team All-NBA in his apex year (21-22). Otherwise he's around the 30-40 range.
The Ringer just updated their player rankings and Ingram is 34 (with the playoff update specifically) and Trae is 35
Even if we want to say BI is worth slightly less than Bridges (even though they are similar 3rd/4th options on really good teams. For note, Bridges is ranked 50 by the Ringer), that's giving up a serviceable starter/great backup, and something like 8, 1sts, for a guy who isn't an all-NBA guy and is probably in the mid-20s at his peak.
Preach

Holy shite you did it again.
Do you want me to explain how you're being dishonest here? Straw man is just a shorthand for pointing out your dishonesty and logical fallacies based on that dishonesty.
Here, I'll break it down for the 90-IQ types:
1. Nobody is saying we should stand pat. You argued that the alternative to not getting Trae is only this option).
2. Nothing in this digression has anything to do with "Ringer rankings". You created that strawman inception to create even more intellectual dishonesty in your response.

Trae is a much better fit with Zion than BI,
I'm just not seeing it. Trae is one of the more notable ball-stoppers in the league, something that people on this board conveniently ignore in their love affair.

According to who? You and Bill Simmons?

That situation is always fluid.
It's not Trae Young, though.

Then you're not arguing to get elite players and you want to pay a premium for that non-elite player. That's bad strategy all around.
