McNamara is on a tear this morning with a lot of rumors.

He claims that most Pels trade discussions have really involved CJ as no one is offering up much for BI or even wants him. So Pels may have to wait on BI, while dangling CJ, young players and picks.

Atlanta wants Herb but Pels aren't interesting in moving Herb.

Thinks the Pelicans will end up with one of the 3 Detroit Centers or Claxton.

If you believe him, there you go

I don't see the market for CJ being large either, however a good team can realize how to build around BI & Zion. CJ is not the 3rd piece if you keep them together. So fair enough

yup.

Give me claxton if its 20-25mil/year over Duren (A bad defensive version of Drummond), Stewart (Not a true center, more of a nance replacement IMHO), Wiseman (Would give green a stroke).

Kelly Iko covers the Rockets for The Athletic. So not unconnected. The interesting part of this though is it seems designed to make the Pels look desperate and lower Ingram's value. Sounds like the Rockets are interested in Ingram but at a lower price.

Of course the Rox arent giving up Sengun for BI lol. I don’t really want any trade with Philly unless another team values their picks.

Us wanting Sengun was a given as was Houston not wanting to send him out.

What points do they have available who fit what we want? Or would they want to send out Jabari Smith Jr as a stretch 4 / offensive 5?

To be fair, most of the Houston trade proposals I've seen from bloggers and fans are more along the lines of #3 and Jabari Smith Jr. as the main pieces coming back, that or Green who is a bit of a distressed property as well. I'm sure Houston thinks Sengun is the next Jokic so an Ingram for Sengun swap would be a bit ambitious by Griff.

Hopefully any Philly framework is us getting Reed and sending those picks for either a point or a backup big to replace Nance

Hopefully any Philly framework is non existent.

Quite literally the worst trade partner/ package we could find.

They have (3) players on their roster. Reed/ Embid/ Maxey.

That package would be Reed + 3-4 shite 1st for BI? frick that 10x over

We arent getting anything of great value from (3) high Philly future 1st.

Very best case scenario there would be send the 1sts for Murray but Hawks aren't going to take that. They want players to fit in and already have the #1 pick.

We really missed the boat with Ingram. Dude's last 12 months have been disastrous.

JSJ and #3 for BI. I’ve been pounding that drum for awhile now, Griff just needs to get on board

I wonder if we’ll come to regret not making that trade last year with Portland to draft Scoot. The jury is still out but a point guard that averages 14 ppg would do wonders for this team.

As usual, Griffin didn’t make the move and now we’re trying to unload Ingram at no doubt less than what he would’ve commanded a year ago.

That may be the basis for a deal but does Houston have the cap space to absorb him without money going out?

If not, we may be stuck eating a contract of someone who isn’t Sengun or Fred Van Vleet as part of this.

This assumes there was a deal with Portland that was makeable last year.

Didn’t they want Zion as part of the trade?

ESPN article just released “Trades we would like to see”

LINK

Pelicans receive:
Max Strus
Jarret Allan

Cavs receive:
Brandon Ingram
Dyson Daniels

quote:

As much as this is a talent swap, this potential deal also comes down to dollars and sense for both teams.

Ingram, 26, is entering the final year of his contract with the Pelicans and is poised to sign an extension for up to $208 million over four years. If Ingram and his camp balk at taking anything less than $50 million per season, New Orleans could look into a trade.

Ingram is one of 10 players to average at least 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in each of the past three seasons. He went to his only All-Star game while a member of the Pelicans, earning the nod in 2020 when he was also named the league's Most Improved Player. But after five years of trying to pair Ingram and Zion Williamson together, it might be time for New Orleans to move on. Ingram would provide the Cavaliers with an option along the wing with Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley in this scenario.

For Cleveland, this breaks up the Mobley-Allen pairing in the frontcourt and slides Mobley over to full-time center. It also could spell the end of Darius Garland's time in Cleveland if the Cavaliers were going to opt to pay Ingram, Mitchell (presumably with a lucrative extension) and the extension-eligible Mobley.

Daniels, a 6-foot-8 defensive-minded guard who turned 21 in March, gives the Cavaliers a ball handler in the deal who could play alongside Mitchell at times or run the second unit. Daniels has struggled to find his shot from deep in two seasons -- 31.2% on 1.8 3-pointers per game -- but brings more value on the other end.

Dealing both Ingram and Daniels saves the Pelicans room under the luxury tax and could give them a better shot at re-signing forward Naji Marshall in free agency.

Allen, an All-Star in 2022, becomes the defensive anchor for coach Willie Green's defense that finished sixth in defensive rating (111.9) this season but could use a more versatile defender than Jonas Valanciunas. Strus, who is in the second of a four-year, $63 million deal, started every game he played this season, but could become a sixth-man in New Orleans.

The Pelicans would have Williamson, Allen, Herb Jones, CJ McCollum in the starting group, and it would allow Trey Murphy III to take Ingram's place while Strus could strengthen the Pelicans' bench.

Ingram becomes a player the Cavaliers could turn to down the stretch to create his own shot and even spell Mitchell at times as the team's lead ball handler.

We would have to take on one contract, Jeff Green at 9.6 million gets the deal done, Houston just has to pick up that team option.

Also would give us another salary to add with Nance and be able to look at other trades with our picks where we can take back 26 million. Claxton comes to mind in a S&T, or Murray if Atlanta would take contracts with 2 picks, or same for Allen. We could even expand the original trade and do something like:
Rockets: BI
Pels: JSJ, Capella, #3
Hawks: Jeff Green

Hawks would probably do that salary dump just to save the 13 million and we wouldn’t cost ourselves any picks while being able to have Capella and Nance’s expiring 34 million in salary to dangle in trades. I fear Griff is just looking at one for one deals and is unwilling to look around for other pieces to expand the trade.

Frick no. Now if they are swapping out Garland for Strus, then that would have me thinking long and hard about it.
