I would think the bigger danger is Washington trading out. They have jack shite on the roster and this is not a strong draft, so they may as well trade back and accumulate assets.
That would be the smart thing to do, but apparently they really like Sarr. Who knows with this draft though. We could see a historic amount of shuffling up and down the draft board

Including Dyson depends on the second piece is.
If it is Ogongkwu, I’ll listen. Less so on Capela without other pieces coming with him.

Saw a post from an "insider" on a Hawks board say that from what he understands, the framework of a Murray trade to Pels is pretty much done. He said he assumes BI is coming back along with another piece. He said the final decision on the 5 going out (Capela or Okongwu) has not been finalized and may depend on whether the Hawks end up with Clingan tomorrow night. Take that with a huge grain of salt as an unsubstantiated rumor (as I do not know how much of an "insider" the guy is).
So sounds like if they dont take Clingan then Capela is in the trade and if they do then Okongwu is in the trade?
Okongwu wants to be a starter. If they take Clingan then he probably wants a trade

The trade is being held up on the first pick... Yes, you heard it. Hawks want Clingan. That is 100%. They are trying to find a way to get him, meaning trading down. Clingan is literally the holdup of the trade at the moment. Tomorrow will be a big day..

I feel like it needs to be said out loud. Capella is a better player than OO. Sure OO is younger, but Capella is a smarter defender and springier when it comes to rebounding and finishing above the rim. I do not think OO is a starter on a good team.
And moving forward as I said, I think you can resign Capella to a good deal with his bird rights moving forward.
I’m not saying I wouldn’t take OO as a backup 5 young player on solid deal. But I think we tend to lose the forrest for the trees in these discussions sometimes.

Trae hasn't even been discussed (with us). Only way he gets traded is if his camp requests out, which is looking like it will eventually happen. It would take at least 4-5 firsts/swaps, an all star type player - not expiring, and at least two high potential players (think of it as a Dyson and Murphy). They aren't getting that, at least from us. Maybe they change directions next season if it doesn't work out and their asking price lowers. But it's basically the AD trade on steroids.

Oh yeah frick all that, they are asking for more than Brooklyn got for KD which is absurd

I hope Trey likes Utah if so because that is who is going to be able to afford that price.
OKC could but why take Trae when you have SGA already getting you the first seed?

Not exactly sure. They value him a lot. If Clingan gets taken, I think an extra future first with minimal protection along with this years first.

Problem is Capella is a one year solution at the 5. We need to find a long term guy and quit with the revolving door there. OO even if he is a backup 5 that gives 25-30 minutes a night is still good, there’s plenty more starting guys out there that are young also and cheap than can give you the other 20 minutes. I look at Okongwu more of an upgrade to Larry since Willie loves running small ball.

The asking price for Trae is ABSURD...and that is 100% fact.
Interesting if thats the case. Then I agree to go after Murray. I like Trae but no reason to overpay especially if its what you’re saying the price is.

Just curious is there any truth in pels interest in trading up for Clingan?

Yeah, I saw talk that Houston wants to use #3 to get a veteran and there was a rumor of trading to Memphis for #9 and Smart so that Memphis could take Clingan. A whole lot of misinformation this late in the process.
Man if that happens, the Grizz burned through some assets. They essentially traded Tyus Jones, and 3 1sts for Clingan. That’s the kind of asset bungling that would make even Griff blush

I prefer Trae also. Just gives that star potential and light on the franchise. But, it will cost a hefty penny. It definitely can be done with multiple teams, but the Hawks as of now aren't serious/worried about letting him go just yet. I expect it to happen eventually though.

Is Dyson in this supposed Murray deal?

The entire NBA I am pretty sure has inquired about the idea. The Pelicans love him. There is no way for them to get him though. So that idea is gone. But yes, they think highly of him.

I think Hawks will just take Clingan at 1. This isn’t a top heavy draft, if you like a prospect that much just go get him. I understand them though trying to trade down and grab some assets while getting Clingan.

The Magical Add-on Trade is a classic feat.

I assume you mean they have Adams to dump because they have Sengun.

Agreed. I worry that the Magic might want Murray too and are willing to include Suggs +other assets. It could make sense for both sides. If that offer is on the table, we would essentially be forced to include Dyson if we want Murray
Then you let that trade go. BI is still way more valuable than Suggs. They can go make a trade for another defensive guard like Dillion Brooks or someone else to pair with Trae.
