The protection of the pick went away once it was traded back to the Pacers. The pick is no longer protected.

1. Do you think the Pelicans wanted to just trade Dyson? Do you think Murray could have been had for anything less? If you think so, you’re out of your mind. You think everything on a message board, Twitter, internet is true? It’s for entertainment. We got Murray for peanuts. It’s common sense that we would have to include a young player as a filler. The NBA would probably veto the trade if not as it would be suspicious. Hawks wanted a defensive guard or wing. Herb obviously was not to be had. So if you were the Hawks, would you prefer Dyson (who is younger than most) or Hawkins? Ya. Pelicans did not want to include Dyson. Idt anyone in the office or any fan did.. but guess what? A trade, especially for a former all star goes two ways. Pelicans loved Dyson. But we have way too many guards at his position. We got value for him. The Hawks pulled the trigger bc that was our best offer. As I mentioned, the firsts we have beyond this year is considered our war chest. Tons of picks plus some youngsters will get you a STAR, Dyson Daniels with a few picks will not. Pelicans wanted Murray. And they did what they had to do to get him.
Idt you understand it in other teams eyes. Teams value picks. Why do you think teams are trading picks out the arse for borderline all stars? That’s the current price, and teams want that. Pelicans value their picks. Every team does.
2. As far as Trae is concerned. It doesn’t even matter anymore. But what I will say, is that regardless of the Yahoo articles you may have read about Trae not fetching much value. That is true. That doesn’t mean that the Hawks are going to trade him for peanuts. You do realize that teams leak things like this to lower the asking price right? Was Trae traded yet? No. Do you know what he will be or has be traded for? No. Imagine reports coming out saying Zion isn’t worth what people think he is…you honestly think as the manager of the organization you would just trade him for 2-3 picks when he still has years on his contract left?
The hawks are asking for a lot. ALOT. But teams don’t agree with their evaluation. Hence why he has not been traded.. it doesn’t mean that he can’t be traded for peanuts, but I can tell you right now he won’t. The asking price for Trae is absurd…and yes. I wanted Trae more than anyone. But I can tell you what I mentioned about Trae is fact. Whether you believe it or not is your opinion and I respect it. He hasn’t been traded yet, so none of us can defend our response. But what I don’t agree with is starting a petty thread calling someone out for something that has not even been done yet.. regardless of what you read or not.

You think I just wake up and get secret info. and just go on the internet? I never spoke to Griff. I have no idea if it will happen or not. But when you are involved with members of the organization and you have free time in your field, wouldn't you like to ask questions and pick peoples brains who actually have some intel?

Hawks insider? No interest in DD? Majority of what I posted was about how the Pelicans do not prefer Trae Young and what it would take to get him... Never claimed to be a Hawks insider.
Sure you are talking about the right person?
Sorry I "vanished". I have been on call.
Lets do a quick recap of the past couple of days.
"Priority is to trade Murray first. Then worry about Trae. Unless an offer they can’t pass up comes around. Ingram to Philly is most likely scenerio as of now. He has no buyers. Griff isn’t just gonna trade him. He has time...."
"1. Ball is in the Hawks court. If you’re waiting on a Pelicans trade with them, it’s because of the Hawks. Neither team is budging on their offers. And neither team is in any rush to make a deal. Hawks will be trading Murray. Soon. Patience. Lakers and Pelicans are front runners.
2. Hawks literally do not want Ingram. Gotta find a third team. In comes Philly.
3. If Lakers should pass on Edey and draft Missi, I would expect Pels to make a few calls to try and get ahead of Toronto. .Edey and Collier are top two. But it always depends on who falls. Last resort is Missi, but I think he goes earlier.
4. Pels have engaged with Kings, Hawks, and Knicks the most over the past 24h.
5. If Griff gets desperate, he will trade Ingram to Philly and either Kings, Nets, or Knicks will be involved. Looking like the most likely scenario."
"You’re gonna see stuff like this come out about multiple players. The key is to getting him is 1. If Trae demands a trade 2. Less suitors due to his contract 3. Griff feels his lack of defense can be made up in different ways 4. If Zion goes to Griff and if Trae’s agent tells Griff he wants ..."
"Not for the deals that are being discussed. It's always possible though if a bidding war happens. But if it comes down to that or trading away a young talent they really like, they will trade the player first (Dyson, Jose, Herb, Hawkins). Every pick after 2024 is part of our war chest."
"There is literally two proposed trades. Not sure the specifics. Dyson has been mentioned, but the Hawks don't care for him. But he won't be a holding point and may be the best option they can get. If Dyson goes, I would expect him to be sent to a third team with picks going to Atlanta. The issue is Dyson isn't getting traded for Capela..in Griff's eyes, if you think of it like that. It's going to take more. Pelicans admire Dyson."
Hawks didn't care for Dyson... He was never even part of original talks. Hes the best they could get. Dyson was getting traded regardless. It was either Dyson or a pick.
I do not have to post anything. Take it for what you want. I do not claim to be an insider. I rarely ever posted on here. I just figured that I would share what I have heard regardless if it happens or not...
Also, not everything I post is insider...I post my opinions also, as do you. But here are a few tidbits to fact check.

Not exactly sure. But they almost had Murray at the deadline but didn’t wanna let Reaves go. Yes. Reaves. And Lebron and his peeps kept pushing for Murray.

No.

They may do Ingram, Nance, five first rounders(one heavily protected), two swaps

That’s what it would take for them to say yes right now in this moment. They aren’t in a rush. You basically have to nuke them to stop the trade exploring.

They will get a ransom. Because their hands aren’t forced to trade Trae at the moment. Their just exploring unless something pops off like the Mikal trade and blows their mind. We have the ammo to pull it off. It just depends if Griff is willing to trade away what he worked so hard building up - for someone he normally wouldn’t trade for.
Zion has the say so. If they’re committed to him, you basically have to obey by his orders. And he has to approve of who you would be sending out incase you take a step back on defense temporarily.
I wouldn’t mortgage my entire future. But when the time is up, you are getting rewarded for both Zion, trae, Murphy, herb, or whoever else is still on the team by then. If you blow it up, you gotta blow it up… take the chance and go for it. It will be on the top of his resume.
I think the starting package is Ingram, Herb, 4 first rounders (one top 3 and 3 unprotected, and two pick swaps. I think they would take that, and I can’t see the spurs beating that because of Herb Jones.
Question is, is it worth trading away Herb?

I think if Trae says that he wants to play with Z and Z pressures the FO, Griff pulls the trigger.

Sadly, it will just take a lot more.. like everyone else, the Hawks are trying to improve for the future. I think for what he will be traded for, we just won’t pull the trigger. Everything that I mentioned earlier literally has to happen. It’s the most possible it’s ever been for a star and it’s exciting for everyone. I just don’t think Griffin has the balls to use the war chest AND players on this specific player. I really hope he does. We, as fans, know that these are the funnest times in basketball as a small market. We have been blessed so far with multiple stars over the years. Let’s look at playing for fans and the team and get the fan base up. If it doesn’t work out, he can still get you decent returns.
And yes.
It will require Herb Jones.. and that’s just the starting point. Ingram, herb and a BUNCH of pics. ONLY if the spurs aren’t willing to unload their picks/Hawks looking for more players than picks. They have us beat.
Or more picks and Ingram and CJ with CJ going to a third team and a crap load of picks back to Hawks.
The only way I can see Hawks demanding less is if they grant his request and the Hawks have a plan in place to replace his salary. Instead, I just see them doing a complete old school reset and acquire as much future ammo as they could.

Y’all see why I said 4-5 picks.. griff isn’t doing that.
I will leave for a minute with this tidbit..
Odds Trae is traded to one of the above teams (fantasy scenario)
Trae's preference = Lakers
Least assets = Lakers
Best chance at winning now = Pelicans
Best future = Spurs
If Trae got to choose and Hawks were loyal enough to give him what he wants (AD to Lakers)
Lakers=80%
Pels/Spurs =10%/10%
Lakers only hope of getting Trae would be a 3+ team trade. Pelicans could enter it for Murray.

You’re gonna see stuff like this come out about multiple players.
The key is to getting him is
1. If Trae demands a trade
2. Less suitors due to his contract
3. Griff feels his lack of defense can be made up in different ways
4. If Zion goes to Griff and if Trae’s agent tells Griff he wants to be there to play with Zion, you do WHATEVER it takes.
5. Most importantly, cost
The fans like us want Trae. I can care less about defense. Give me Trae Young on a billboard.
IF every one of those things listed line up, Griff has no other option. You do the trade. Whatever it costs (minus herb and Murphy).
Usually when chatter happens about trades the agents leak things about obvious teams.
I think Trae would be thrilled here. But I also see him fitting perfectly with the Spurs as one of their cornerstones.
Expect more of this to come out in the next 24h. Expect Griff to listen. But for Trae to come here, all five things need to align.
If Herb has to be attached to ANY Murray or Trae deal, you go with Trae. Could be posturing on Hawks to getting what they want. They hold all the cards. They also don’t have to do a single trade if it doesn’t benefit them.

CJ currently, no. For the right piece, yes.

The Pels really like Capella. And he will cost you far less in assets compared to others.
For what the asking prices are right now, I would say Robinson is most budget friendly. The rest would have to be three team trades where we give up a ton. You only do that for a Mobley type on a good contract. Pelicans don't need an allstar stud at center. Although most of us prefer a Center like AD who can spread the floor and shoot 3's when open, the FO feels the opposite. It's hard to find exactly what you want. And the big athletic rebounder is much more attainable than the other.
