Dyson and Herb looked pretty good starting together last year.

In 555 minutes played together last season we had a 112.2 offensive rating. That would have us as one of the worst offenses in the league (24th last season). Defensively we were better and would have been 2nd in the league defensively, but I would much prefer the top 10 offense and defensive version.

It may have looked good but the numbers show it really wasn’t.

They’re taking him at 1 by all indications
Unless they had a deal in place where they know they can take Risacher at 1 and still get Clingan at 3 (or vice versa). Sarr is going at 2 to Wizards.

Why in the world would we be interested in Harris?

If we’re going through all that then the deal better include Trae Young to Pels. Only way it makes sense.

It doesn't make sense for either side. The Pelicans want to start Trey and Harris plays the same position as our best player and he isn't going to come here to sit on the bench.

I would agree. However, would Griff take on Trae? The only way I see that happening is if Zion demanded it.

In other words, don’t believe what my eyes are telling me.

Not sure how correct these numbers are, came from another site…

Jonas - Zion - BI - Herb - Daniels elite man defense = +20 100 minutes 10 games started
Jonas - Zion - BI - Herb - CJ elite spacing = +1.5 1450 minutes
Nance defense - Zion - BI - Herb - CJ elite spacing = -6.5 140 minutes

Holy phrasing..

24th is "one of the worst offenses" but "2nd " in overall defense is just "better"? Not one away from the very best??

And you'd rather trade 2nd ranked defense and hope for top 10 offense > KEEP top 2 defense and build top 10 offense?

They’re directly from NBA.com’s lineup numbers.

Yes, we’re the 6th ranked defense already, aka one of the best.

We were the 11th ranked offense, dropping down 13 spots puts us at 24th, aka bottom 6 or one of the worst.

You do realize you are allowed to have 2 potential all team/ DPOY candidates on a team together? You don't get penalized. You don't have to trade 1 because you have 1.

You just don't see it often because well its a luxury most teams never get to have....

Lets trade him for offense!!

So the lineup with DD starting instead of our normal starting lineup with CJ was +20.

And thats a disaster huh lol…

Do you work for the Biden administration, don’t believe what you see?

We were 6th in the league in defense the last 2 years- how far did that get us?

There is argument to be made that more offense could be the answer.

So Zion played the last two years in the playoffs?

The starting lineup minus Jonas and Zion plus Trey and Larry was better than that. Does that mean we should bench Zion and start Larry and Trey? Or does it mean that you can have some favorable matchups at times that skews limited numbers?

I would rather look at 100% of the minutes they played together than 15% of the minutes they played together.

Which is more reason to add players who can score over defense if your best offensive player has availability issues.

We don't have to sacrifice Dyson to get more offense... Why the hell wouldn't we keep both top defenders AND get better offense.

And yet that is still the main point not being understood.

We have BI + CJ + (6) 1sts the next 4 years...

Use all of that and actually see what we have in Hawkins before sacrificing Dyson who has already without a doubt improved our defensive and has showed elite level defense against Lebron and Luka.

Just another reminder that NBA rumors are mostly writers carrying water for agents.

None.

We had games where we started Dyson/Hawk/Ingram/Zion/Jonas and that lineup was +15.1 for the season with an offensive net rating that would have been the best in the league. Should we ditch Herb and start Hawk in his place?

We can find lineups all day long where the net ratings look good because they’re in limited minutes, doesn’t necessarily mean those players would be well together all season long.
