If they’re thinking of putting Trey as the starting spot. Who you think goes to the bench?

I’ve thought all along CJ will buy in to being the super 6th man to save himself for playoff basketball and extend his career, and likely suggest it to the coaching staff.

I know everyone will point to his comments about Klay moving to the bench but Klay didn’t want to do it and they benched him in favor of a rookie which CJ explicitly said

Right now the “center” would go to the bench because they don’t have one. CJ is the obvious choice if they get a worthwhile center. I don’t think that would happen immediately though. Willie would wait for CJ to fail or make Trey earn his spot.

Trey isn’t taking CJs spot.
He’s taking BIs
Murray is an actual PG. CJ is not.
We didn’t bring Murray over to come off the bench.
And Herb isn’t going to the bench.

Murray is taking CJs spot.

I think Willie would disagree. Unless Trey takes CJs spot in training camp, which he could do if he takes a step up defensively, CJ is starting and Murray is replacing BI, regardless of position.

I think our starting lineup is going to eventually be Murray,Trey, Herb, Zion, Center. I think Jose, CJ, Hawkins, a back up big, and Missi are going to be the second team. Hopefully, the BI trade will net us a center and that backup big.

No one. Holy frick, CJ is starting and Trey was always replacing BI.

Herb was always coming off the bench unless CJ is moved or washed.

Murray and his defense make that work + defensive center. Adding Murray makes it an easier decision to leave Herb on the bench to start. It maximizes our offense. Doesn't mean Murray/ Herb won't close games together.

You’re crazy if you think a defensive mind coach is going to make a first team all defensive player be on the bench.

Neither has CJ/ Murray

BI is being moved to start Trey. Yes we added a PG meaning 1/3 has to be benched. Logically its Herb.

Half the peolple on here are always bitching about "put shooters around Zion" or "defense won't get it done we need more offense"

We gett Murray to compliment those 2 guys and maximize our offense while providing defense that makes moving Herb to the bench an easier decision.

What I had said is what should happen.
I seriously doubt CJ is going to come off the bench. Willie would rather just keep bringing Trey off the bench b/c of the respect/age whatever bull shite.

CJ and Hawk can not play together and they shouldn't have to.

Realistically if we are to get the best out of our team then it needs to be:

Murray/ Jose
CJ/ Hawk
Trey/ Herb
Zion/ Trey

Murray/ CJ/ Jose
Herb/ CJ/ Hawk
Trey/
Zion/ Trey/ PF

Taking minutes from Jose/ Hawk, less flexibility and more holes.

Is CJ a starting SG, backup SG, or backup PG?

If you choose the 2nd option then just go ahead and trade one of Jose/ CJ now for a PF/ C.

Have successful teams had a $33M player come off the bench

Seems for that price, if you don’t start, you need to be moved

100% disagree.

I've heard that argument somewhere else, that we need Trey in the starting lineup now for shooting.

How does replacing BI with Murray, someone who shot more than double the 3 point attempts as BI last season, mean that we need to move Herb to the bench to add more shooting to the starting lineup? It's not like replacing JV with any other center is going to take away shooting from the C spot. It just doesn't make sense to me.

So much for a paycut lol

The reporting on it is a bit misleading too, he didn't negotiate a no-trade clause, there is always a no-trade clause if you sign a one year deal with your previous team (or a 1+1 in this case).

Makes me wonder if he was paranoid that they would trade him

Yeah Lakers offseason is done. There’s talk of Lebron taking about 1 million less to get team below second apron.

Murray- 32/ CJ- 6/ Jose-10

Herb-10/ CJ- 24/ Hawk-14

Trey- 26/ Herb- 22

Zion- 30/ Trey- 6/ (12minutes????)

This doesn't make any sense. You are sqeezing Jose/ Hawk and losing your flexibility with Herb/ Trey at SF/PF.

This is with Murray/ Herb/ Trey accounting for (32min) and CJ/ Zion (30min)

Herb is going to start and play less minutes at SG than CJ?

Still would need a PF to play 10+ min a game. Unless CJ/ Hawk/ Jose play SF? That makes sense right?

I hope Zion stays healthy in this scenario or we are looking to fill +30min at PF and stuffing our team at SG. Brilliant.

Something disturbing Bobby Marks said on the Lowe Post a day or 2 ago, next offseason there will be 15 cap space teams. That seems like an environment for guys to get overpaid.

That says a few thing to me. BI would be dumb to lock in to a discounted extension now, meaning a team like Sac might view him as a rental unless they are prepared to max him. It also says Murray and his contract are going to look amazing over the next few years.
