Seems for that price, if you don’t start, you need to be moved

In the 12-13 league year Ginobli made 14.1 million and the cap was 58 million. So he made 24% of the cap. CJ's salary is 23% of the cap this season.

Can't wait to see what we pay Trey.

To have Murray and Herb locked in at 40-45mil combined the next (3) years is crazy.

Something disturbing Bobby Marks said on the Lowe Post a day or 2 ago, next offseason there will be 15 cap space teams. That seems like an environment for guys to get overpaid.

That says a few thing to me. BI would be dumb to lock in to a discounted extension now, meaning a team like Sac might view him as a rental unless they are prepared to max him. It also says Murray and his contract are going to look amazing over the next few years.

I'd have to look at the numbers, I wonder if they will have a legitimate amount of cap space, or like 10 million or something.

According to MM, Kings are interested in adding BOTH Ingram and Derozen.

Bulls have said if Derozen leaves they are dumping Vucevic.

Could be an easy get as a stopgap at center that wouldn’t cost any assets for a few months until a deal shakes loose for Allen/Claxton or someone like that

Vuc sucks and is owed $20m+ a season.

Read this part, it’s important.

Yeah Lakers offseason is done. There’s talk of Lebron taking about 1 million less to get team below second apron.
Still some smoke about trading Russell to Nets.

Nah. If he were an expiring maybe, but would be tough to dump later. Could end up being at least a year and a half stop gap.

So you would rather not have a big man at all than take someone you will likely get paid to take while having PERFECT salary matching for your preferred target? Vic is still a top 20 center in the league and very willing 3 point shooter while being an excellent rebounder.

And that is the problem.

At a point, we have $50m+ in CJ and Vuc to offload unless we want to eat each contract.

Fortunately those aren't the only two options.

I'm not in doom phase where I believe that we will go into the season without a center.

Agreed.

WCJ is clearly available and we can afford him. I don’t see the point in taking an expensive loss in the short term just to plug a spot.

Favors, Adams, JV. Griff has used more resources than most of us would have liked to make sure there is at least a serviceable starting center the entire time he's been here. I can't imagine his plan being to go into the season with no starting caliber center.

Vucevic was ranked dead last in 3 point percentage lol. He’s been a net negative every season with the Bulls.

Kessler and WCJ are up for trade. I wouldn’t rush into things.

There are other options. I dont want that chucker either that is terrible on defense.

quote:

Vic is still a top 20 center in the league

He used to be. He is not anymore.

quote:

and very willing 3 point shooter

that's his problem. He shoots a bunch of 3's, but he sucks at it. He had one year he shot well from 3, 40% the year he was traded mid season to Chicago. Since then he's shot 32% from 3 over the last 3 years, and he keeps shooting them.

quote:

while being an excellent rebounder.

He does play hard, i'll give him that, and he's a handful on the boards for most opposing bigs to deal with.

Last resort i guess i'd take him if they were giving assets away for us to take him, but i'd much rather just about any other option.

Think about this: a former 2x all-star who averages 18 and 11 the last 3 years making only $20M/yr is wanted by no one, and will have to have assets attached to get rid of.

Yeah at that point you just take WCJ or end up with Capella.

Season before last he shot 35%

Not saying it’s ideal, but I would rather take him and wait for a better trade than overpay for a center right now when teams know we are desperate. I personally would rather him starting over WCJ, WCJ has a lengthy injury history and misses a ton of games. You have to have 2 starting quality centers if you go into the year with WCJ

There is a time to overpay and a time not to overpay. As long as we make a positive return on a BI trade AND get a center then it's gonna happen.

What better trade for a center will happen next year if we go into the season with shite and no leverage? We will probably overpay even more by waiting.
