For as "lucky" as we seemed to be, we were dealt some pretty unlucky shite thru the years
There was no luck. We were given AD for trading CP3, we were given Zion for trading AD, DAL was given Flagg for trading Luka.
The only "luck" we have ever had was hitting on CP3. I also don't think its unrealistic to believe that Fears could be the closest thing to that since we drafted CP3.
There really isn't a reason to believe that Queen/ Fears can't have the biggest impact on this franchise since CP3.

Remember when the Pels took the #1 in the West, Suns, team to 6 games in the first round without Zion.
The #1 team also lost their best player to injury in that series

We have (7) picks + Murray/ Zion/ Trey/ Herb. So we can easily get anywhere from 12-15 picks if this goes sideways.
The pels adding guys like Fears/ Queen/ Bey while still having assets like Murray/ Z/ Herb/ Trey on the roster is exactly how you set yourself up for success.
We have a chance to compete AND still get 14 picks. Those teams just have picks.
This shite actually made me laugh. I'm starting to be convinced you are dumars jr.

Pretty much any franchise that doesn't cater to or try to build around a 6ft 5, 310 pound shooting guard that can't shoot or stay healthy for 8 years.
I'd take our franchise over the Kings or Nets. That's about it.

Anyone else but Sacramento or Washington would be an improvement

I dont want to model after anybody, I want us to hire some young hungry upcoming GM that is going to go for broke.
Not some old tired retread. Same with the HC.

The Spurs were a well-run and well-coached franchise long before Wemby.

quote:Sure, but it’s not everything. Do you think the Pels would be in the same position if Sam Presti had been the Pels GM?
I agree with modeling from consistency but luck or lack their of definitely plays a part here.
quote:The Pels had AD. They had a legit #1 pick superstar talent. I understand he wasn’t the healthiest player, but they did absolutely nothing as a team with his tenure.
The stars on those teams actually being successful stars played a big part in their success.
Then they had a chance to rebuild and instead decided to keep trying to win and got stuck on the mediocrity treadmill. Now they have a chance to rebuild again and it looks like they’re just gonna try to keep this current era going.
It’s just an incompetently-run organization. Sam Presti would have had the Pels as a perennial playoff team. It’s poor decision making that keeps the Pels down.

Please explain what is so funny about about Murray, Zion, Trey, and Herb being worth a combined 5-7 1sts?
Zion- 1
Murray- 1
Trey- 2
Herb- 1
That's (5) 1sts with the absolute lowest value for each asset. Y'all view very normal takes as crazy opinions/ evaluations and it makes y'all quite dramatic or unreasonable.
Z isn't worth 1 first? Trey isn't worth 2? Murray isn't worth 1? Herb not 1? What are you laughing at seriously?
Yes, our combined assets are right on par with the Nets/ Grizz if we trade players like they did. Yes, we currently have a full roster that is trying to be competitive unlike the Nets/ MEM.
Do I have to explain how more picks + less player assets = less picks + more players assets? Are we serious right now?

I don’t know how to break this to you, but it is already sideways.

I mean sure its not great. But its pretty clear what's going on.. Murray missed half the season and we spent half the year figuring out how to scheme with Fears/ Queen.
The plan is clearly to run it back, see how far we can get, keep who fits, and trade who doesn't.
In recent years this is just blatant bad news and refusal to upgrade but that's changed because we didn't have high impact lottery picks to allow you to move on from those players.
I know people will claim we don't have a plan and are lost but its really not even the slightest bit complicated. For some reason people refuse to acknowledge the impact of our starting PG who was a previous all-star, missed half year, and then wasn't 100%.
Just because we have Fears/ Queen and haven't traded Z, Herb, etccc doesn't mean we won't.
Now that we have Fears/ Queen you have to build the team around them. This is the year to figure out who or if any of those guys are worth keeping.

We knew this was going to be the case heading into last year, though.
What was your prediction for us last year? Did you think we’d be good? Really good?

First round playoff exit. No, I don't think anyone thought we would be really good especially without Murray and Willie as the coach. We started out 2-10 with Willie and were 9-32 at 41 games.
Do I think another year of Queen/ Fear/ Missi + new coach + healthy Murray should drastically change that start to the season? Yes 100%
Maybe its still not great and we are closer to 19-22 but I think its ridiculous to assume we start out 2-10 or end up 9-32 again.
Even going something like 37-42 with major growth from Fears/ Queen and permanent future decisions for Trey/ Z/ Murray/ Herb would be great improvements.
When your franchise is as bad as the Pels have been you'd think people would get excited about minimum improvements that could become large improvements instead of hating on them.

First round playoff exit.
Okay. I remember you saying there were only 4 teams in the west who were better than us, so I guess that checks out.
For us to lose in the first round we would’ve had to win around 15-20 more games than we did. Maybe a few more, maybe a few less depending on the play-in and matchups, etc.
And we didn’t/couldn’t tank at all, so that 26-56 record was our best shot.
So it’s safe to say you were way off. Which is fine, I thought we’d be a 50-win team the year before last. No one knows shite.
But I do think it’s possible that you are consistently overrating our roster and our chances to actually make the playoffs.
I think the flaw with the “minimal improvements” strategy is that we aren’t going to run it back again if we only win 10 more games next year. We can’t. That would be insane.
So if we are going “win now” and making everybody untouchable, then it needs to be for a good reason. We have guys at the peak of their trade value currently. We can’t miss that boat because we are married to minimal improvements.

That is not what Dumars has said. That is not what “Run it Back” means.
But you at least admit the franchise is bad .
