I think the flaw with the “minimal improvements” strategy is that we aren’t going to run it back again if we only win 10 more games next year. We can’t. That would be insane.
Of course. The "minimal improvement" strategy refers to acquiring talent like Fears/ Queen that give us a greenlight to move older players or actually see a path for the future.
People see a shitty, failed team and then see Fears/ Queen and think "great we added 2 good assets to a shitty team".
Instead of thinking "Great maybe we can move on from the shitty, failed past teams now that we have future players to build on".
Fears/ Queen clearly didn't make us contenders but they did do enough for Pels fans to be cool with gutting the entire roster and building around those 2.
The difference between last year and the previous 5 years was not having confidence in future players to build on or allow us to move on from others.
quote:On paper yes we should have been way better than we were.
I remember you saying there were only 4 teams in the west who were better than us, so I guess that checks out.

So it’s safe to say you were way off. Which is fine, I thought we’d be a 50-win team the year before last. No one knows shite.
Correct but its also not logical to assume we take any step back or even stay nearly as bad.

But you at least admit the franchise is bad .
I have always openly said the franchise is bad and have never actually said otherwise. But I can see light at the end of the tunnel and I can see a real path to moving on from Z, Herb, etccc. Just because the franchise has been bad for 20 years doesn't mean it can't get better. Now do I also think there's room for us to frick it up? Of course.
This is the most excited I've been for the Pels future because only once in franchise history have we drafted an elite PG in the top half of the lottery who is a primary scorer and facilitator. That PG led us to the most success in Pels history. Now we have a chance to do it again but instead or pairing that person with David West its a freak athlete putting up 30/20 games and trip dubs.
