The NBA is so fricked. This guy is under contract through 23/24. I doubt he would even walk away from the player option at that age. He should have no damn control.

What is the point of signing a contract?

Today on Jake’s podcast he talks about Dame and his “cryptic” Instagram post.
Still the longest of long shots but the Portland GM had an absolute train wreck of a presser today that can't make Dame happy.

- He called out Dame for going public with wanting Kidd to be the coach
- He called out Stotts, stating they didn't lose due to roster, making it clear it was coaching
- He said whatever coach comes in needs to be able to fix the defense with limited to no roster changes

Also talked up how good they've been the last 8 years, basically suggesting this ain't his fault.

And also said it's been tough without draft picks... The ones that he traded.

I mean, the playoff series loss is clearly Dame's fault for not scoring 50 every game.

He's got 3 more years on his contract but I'm sure he realizes if there's a rebuild he won't be overseeing it so he's acting like desperate people act, dumb and ignoring reality.

The next step of dame to the Pels is complete sons.

Shel, we have the most to offer for a rebuilding team yes? Young talent and picks?!?! While keeping BI?

Remember how the Pels wouldn't let Demps be the one trading AD? I would imagine we need to see a regime before we see a Dame trade. What if that doesn't happen until next offseason? How much do you trade for a 32 year old Dame? Maybe the price is cheaper by then and you don't have to include BI.

Technically OKC has more, but they have no reason to want Dame, so basically yes.

But I don't think it happens without giving up BI. I just don't think the Blazers do it under any circumstance if BI isn't involved. Just my guess though.

And if no BI, they'd probably then want NAW/Kira/Hayes and about 10 picks/swaps lol.

Sounds like something as dumb as Griffin would babble in a couple of years when Zion says freak it been 4 years and not even sniffing playoffs with this franchise

I think two of those with one being Kira and 5 firsts would have them listening very strongly. Especially if we get a top 4 pick. And for damn sure if we get number 1.

Kira/Bledsoe/BI

For

Lillard/Covington

No clue what picks to add, but that is some solid youth. Portland’s roster is trash.

I think we should ultimately run it back with smaller additions and keeping Lonzo.

You could pull a deal for Dame off without including Ingram solely because of Dame’s age but why would you want to keep Ingram who needs a lot of shots too and instead lose all your draft assets plus a young player or 2. I could see 2 deals as possible

1- Dame for Ingram, 2 firsts and a 2nd
2- Dame for Hayes, 4 first and a swap

The smarter option would be trying to go after CJ McCollum who could most likely be had for half the cost of Dame.

Because we're trying to win a fricking title. That's the mentality this org needs when you have a guy like Zion.

And

Ingram runs the second unit and has the ball in his hands. He's also pretty damn good at catch and shoot so I don't see where a major sacrifice is made.

CJ is arse in the playoffs and we need a pg. Dames the dude.

Portland would hang up on you if you didn’t offer BI

This is all bullshite anyway as Portland isn’t going to all of a sudden go batshit crazy and trade it’s superstar. They will appease him behind closed doors or by making moves but there’s no reality where I see them trading Dame. McCollum would be another story but like you said, he’s not Dame. I just want Malcolm Brogdon while also keeping both NAW and Hayes too. If we could form a deal to get him from the Pacers centered on draft assets that would be a dream scenario for me.

If it's Hayes and only 4 picks, both Kira and NAW would need to be added. Hayes plus 4 picks doesn't get Portland to answer the phone.

I'd be more than happy to land McCollum but it wouldn't make us better than landing Dame, so not sure how it would be smarter.
