Truth is he's given up on being a professional since he first stepped foot in the league. Maybe a fresh start will be good for him, but he NEVER came into a season ready to take the next step.

I don't know. I do not get overly concerned about someone who "likes" someone else's post. Too much assumption going on. When I clicked, I thought he posted something.

Second best asset we have received from the lakers in the Anthony Davis trade officially squandered.

Makes a ton of sense honestly.

He knows they're shopping him.

Graham knows.

Billy wants out.

Hard to get super motivated when you know you're not wanted long-term.

Not crying for him. It's his own fault.

But we need to rip the bandaid off and move on from these guys.

They need a wakeup call that this is a professional team and business and summer camp is over.

Josh Hart (plus NAW) turned into McCollum.

He had some decent moments. But it was over once he tried to be a PF and shoot 3s..

If you are professional/wise/competitive, and in Jax’s position(unproven/disappointing) you continue to play your arse off cause you want the best team possible to want to trade for you.

I’ve said it before, but unlike most of his peers, Jax was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and it shows. He has that trust fund entitlement and unearned self-victimization you see in some wealthy children. Despite being born on third base, with great sports genetics, being put thru the best schools and cruised on sheer physical talent, he has never put in the work consistently relative to his peers, and in the NBA you can no longer cruise on genes alone.

It was pretty telling preseason when everyone was talking about how hard the whole team had been working, everyone got mentioned except Hayes, AD did a AMA on Twitter and avoided any Hayes related questions. It was pretty clear he's not willing to put in any work and just going through the motions.

Seems like that next contract and the millions ticking off of it with every shitty game should be enough motivation to keep one going and giving it their all.

If not that, just personal pride, man.

yeah, of course and that's why guys like Billy and Graham continue to try, regardless of how ineffective they may be.

Jax? Worthless.

It's all speculation, but there are 3 times recently I can recall with AD where the timing of stuff he said or how he said it really makes you think...

- The one you just mentioned, where AD was answering all questions except for all the Jax ones

- More recently, the moment the article came out about players/front office being frustrated with BI, AD made it a point for 2 straight games to highlight and go on and on and out of his way to talk about how this team has players playing hurt and giving it their all and guys like JVal who don't take games off.

- Last season, AD & Joel would always bring up Zion during games in conversation, pretty normal. Right around the time of the reports when Zion was in Portland and not talking with the team and even Trajan had to fly out there just to communicate with him, very very randomly during a game, AD emphatically talked about how he only wanted to talk about players who were here with the team. If you weren't with the team, we weren't talking about you, only the guys here busting their butts. It was striking how much emphasis he was putting on it too

Maybe all of that means nothing, but the timing is wayyyyyy too coincidental IMO for them to mean nothing.

Passing on Darius Garland will always be a black eye for Griff. Would have made the Lakers trade incredible.

Yep

And the only times I have heard his name and hard work in the same breathe has been the two times he was buried on the bench and it was for a short burst.

Actually feels like that is the Jax experience so to say.

He slacks off in the offseason relative to others.

Loses ground in the depth chart even though the team wants to play him. Then(up until now) he puts in some actual motivated work half way thru the season(usually with assistance from injuries) and gets into the permanent rotation......Guess this time he's decided to pout and say frick that.

Which again does not surprise me given his approach to life by default.

He fooled me with this shite for 2 seasons. The second half of his 2nd and 3rd seasons were legit good. Then he does nothing to build off of it and we're back to square one. This dude has so much potential but doesn't care to see it through

I think those are very astute observations.

But what do you think it means?

I do wonder about the BI/Zion dynamic.

How did BI feel about Zion getting so much attention and taking over as the team's Alpha?

There were the rumblings about point Zion and how BI felt about it.
