With the way we’re playing, BI can rest up

My closing lineup, although not OFFICIAL quite yet...is leaning heavily toward DD/Herb/BI/Zion and Nance.
As longas you know there is 0.0% chance of this happening without a CJ injury

Rest assured I am not saying my closing lineup is what WILL happen...merely what I HOPE will happen to give us the best chance to win. I'm usually quite a bit ahead of the curve, so it'll probably be next year before this happens.

DD over CJ is insanity.

Any reason to be concerned that Ingram's toe could linger all year?

All year? Who knows. But I did some research.

The Grizzlies' Desmond Bane sprained (tore or stretched a ligament) his right big toe on Nov. 11th, has missed just over a month and recent reports are he'll miss another 3 to 4 weeks. That's aprox 2 months total of projected time missed, not counting any lingering/re-aggravating issues.

On Nov. 25th, BI had a left great toe contusion (bruise with pain, swelling, tightness, joint restriction). That's about 2.5 weeks out so far. Good news, Willie Green said he was "extremely hopeful" to get him back for this road trip, but bad news, has already been ruled out for the 1st game, so who knows if he'll play this week.

Now, if BI had a bone contusion, and not a soft tissue one, that can slowly heal over 4 to 8 weeks which would effectively put BI out as long as Bane's sprain, but Willie's hopefulness tells me it's not that serious.

BI already started basketball activities so he's on track. Willie also said he hopes to have both Herb and BI during the road trip. So it sounds like BI is getting close.

If I had to guess Herb will be back tonight and if we get a solid win then we will sit BI out til the game against PHX Saturday.

Dyson's rapid improvement is why I refuse to count him out...as an actual "starter" on our closing unit, come playoff crunch time. My closing lineup, although not OFFICIAL quite yet...is leaning heavily toward DD/Herb/BI/Zion and Nance.

With the money they pay CJ, and his experience, there is no way he is being left out.

Our closing lineup is wholly dependent upon how the game is going.

Have been told Brandon Ingram will be re-evaluated in a week. Experienced a small setback during his rehab process. Imaging is still clear. Team just being cautious with his return.

. Brandon Ingram (left big toe contusion) is still out.

So I guess BI gets the MT treatment? Or no.

How can one experience a set back with a bruise?

viewing the actual injury and how Wilkie has talked about it, they've said it's a sprain just as much as a bruise.

A minor setback with a sprain would make more sense.

When I saw him limping in that game, I pretty much assumed he would be out a month based off of the pain he seemed to be experiencing, plus the fact his injuries always seem to be listed day to day, but take at least 2 weeks.

You just have to adjust your expectations with Ingram and his injuries. It’s always worse than what the team lets on. If we get him back before Jan 2023, that’s probably a win tbh.

so next Tuesday
he will miss both jazz games, @ PHX and vs MIL. He has already missed 11 games thus far, that will make 15.

what a fricking bummer

Yeah, if there’s one complaint you can have about BI, it seems like he has a very low pain tolerance. I don’t know if he will ever be the type to be able to play through pain.
