I wouldn’t. Not because I love Murphy so much I just don’t think a $60 million brown is the answer

If Desmond Bane netted 4 1st round picks, then you have to do better than that!

Truth!

But most people on here would do anything to keep Trey and Herb, and win 30 games per year…lol… it makes no sense

There’s no point in trading for win now moves and giving away our best or second best player

I don’t necessarily disagree, but this franchise isn’t trading Trey for picks. That’s not to say they don’t get any back, but it won’t be the main piece of the deal. I would venture to say they don’t get any back because Trey wouldn’t be the premier player in a deal they make.

Brown is 30 and makes double what Murphy does. Would be an awful trade.

Zero doubt Brown is the better player, but is he 32+ million a year the next three years better where we have to include multiple other assets?

That would be stupid.

Of course he is. He was on track to be top 3 in MVP voting before Tatum came back.
And people keep saying he is 30 years old. The guy is one of the top athletes and is taking care of his body, so will play at a very high level for the next 5-6 years (baring a season long injury).
If we can give away only '27 and '29 picks we shall do it immediately. Any other picks beyond is where it becomes a bit too much.

And he will be priceless for DQ development (Fears already showed he has the Mamba mentality in him).

Pels need a couple star players in the worst way, but we've also seen role players walk out the door recently that were key pieces on contending and championship teams. You need both to win, so I understand the hesitancy to ship off Herb/Trey.

Look I love Trey but reality is he hasn’t impacted winning since he’s been here. No one has. That’s why I guess other than Fears and Queen, everyone should be on the table as a trade candidate. If you can get Brown, sure trade Trey to go get him.

Murray was supposed to be the guy that gets us to winning and now he seems to be part of most deals

Exactly- with OTHER teams….,we aren’t winning crap with this core

Get some stats and fill in role
Players later…. If you have stats and contend, veteran role players will want to come play with you

Trading for brown is for a playoff team that thinks he's can be that piece to make them over the top.

We are a sub 30 win team, healthy.

That's we should be asset acquiring, not the opposite.

We're a 30 win team when healthy yeah so let's keep all of our players instead of trying to get better one! Genius. I don't understand the fans. Do you want your team to win, or to pick in the lottery every year?
I get it years of conditioning have led us to off-seasons looking at lottery. Not playoffs. Getting JB will put us in the playoffs.

He is that good.

He will also bring the winning culture and habits that these players don't have experience with. By the time he does start braking down fears and queen will be entering their early primes and be ready to take over.

People forget he was the 3rd overall pick and wad going to be the cornerstone and then they picked Tatum in the next draft.

Funny how Boston got the 2 best players in the 2016 and 2017 drafts and both were selected 3rd overall.

I am on board with JB coming here, it would be nice to see a true #1 option play on this team. I feel like the time lines work for DQ and/or Fears to take over when JB starts to fade.

The issue is what does the rest of the roster look like if we have those 3? What about draft picks?

Speaking of draft picks, how does the new lottery affect the value of draft picks now.

I'm not denying he's better than anyone we have. That's the ceiling a playoff team with him for the next 5 years.

The issue is it will also come at the cost of future picks. Picks that could play a role into rebuilding. We're not a contender. We're not even a borderline playoff team to push all in for jb.

That's the issue. If we had all those Milwaukee picks or Lakers pick and you said yeah let's use those assets to do so, fine. Trade for jb and there's still a ton of holes on this team.

His current deal has only 3 years left. He would have to accept an extension for him to be here for the next 5. I don't think he'd re-sign here so I would imagine he would have to promise to extend if he's traded.

Sabonis isn't a stretch 5. He creates zero court gravity. He's very similar to Queen. I'd trade Zion for him just to get rid of the toxic waste on our roster, but not much else.

This

Brown does nothing for us long term except cost a shitload of money and move us into the 8-10 seed at best, especially if we have to give up Trey to get him.

If we give up Trey AND all of our draft picks? We are fricked and basically stuck until the early 2030s

I cannot express how much I would hate this move.

I lean against Brown , but if the team keeps Z, it’s a waste of time.

Now if Brown wants to be a Pelican and Z is also shipped out , I’m cool with the shakeup.

Hey guys I found a scratch off ticket that is worth $100,000! But I'm going to throw it away because I'm going to buy one that might win me 1 million!!
