Who would've thought I'd be drinking so early on a Thursday but hey here we are.

Hayes is going to be our primary 4 for big stretches.

well he's not a 4, so that's not going to work, and it's a stupid fricking plan to not sign a god damn prototypical backup PF 2 offseasons in a row.

just b/c we had a string of injuries last year that forced him to play the 4, doesn't mean that he can or should play the 4. There is no reason that any 2 of Hayes/JV/Billy should ever be on the court together.

I mean that's probably shopped but it's still probably not far from the truth.

Why would Jaxson and JV be a bad combo?

Tend to Agree with you and just posted about it in the rotations thread.

Jaxs can guard 1-5, and honestly the position he guards worst is 5’s depending on the matchup. He’s also kind of hot and cold on the boards but that’s not an issue if he’s battling down low with Jonas.

Also, both Jaxs and Jonas can shoot a bit. And Jaxs gives you a vertical lob threat and rim protection that Jonas doesn’t give you. But by the same token, Jonas can defend some of the bigger centers in the post better than Jaxs due to size and experience.

Playing Jaxs and Jonas together is nothing like playing Jaxs and Adams together. Adams couldn’t do anything offensively last year and more than half the season was one of the worst defending centers in the entire league. I think an average defensive season from Jonas will outperform what we got from Adams in the majority of the games last year.

b/c neither of them can dribble penetrate, or present a true threat from 3. Of course they can both hit from 3, but you'll let them take those shots all day long, and neither of them have a quick release so you can challenge the shot with ease.
That means when you kick the ball out to either of them on the perimeter, its not a big threat and it gives the entire defense time to get back into position b/c neither of them will do something quickly worth guarding while out on the perimeter. You can't have 2 guys on the court with an inability to dribble the basketball effectively after a kick out.

Hayes can defend the perimeter well enough as a big, but if he gets switched to a perimeter player and then they run a pick with JV in it, that's a disaster waiting to happen with two bigs like that trying to defend pick and roll/pops.

Let Griff make the Zion trade and then fire his arse. Only thing that fricker is good for is trading stars for picks.

It’s not, it came from the photoshoot right after he was drafted. The one this picture came from:

This was so obviously going to be the case from the second we learned of the surgery . I’m concerned about re-injury once he’s back

Big ppl and foot injuries are a bad combo .

We’ve known he was not doing any real basketball activity outside of post practice ball handling and light shooting . If you expected him to go from that to playing an NBA game two weeks later your were just being naive or had your fan glasses on . OR you believed David Griffin which is a clear no-no

2.5 weeks is just for the scans. He would still need to be cleared for basketball activities, cleared to go 5 on 5, and cleared for contact. It's going to be way longer than 2.5 weeks.

Yes it seems.
I thought Zion's injury wasn't serious but his 1st game will probably be in December...

Yeah I’m not counting on Zion anytime soon. The same way I can’t listen to any Griff pressers/interviews.

I think the Pels are, as usual, overly cautious returning Zion from injury. Have to think though that Zion understands better the relationship between his weight and injury. I expect him back sometime in November by which time he'd have missed 15 or so games. Not catastrophic but unfortunate as we have a revamped squad that needs playing time together. Just took our odds down significantly for a 6th. seed or better.

So either he is extremely lazy with rehab or he heals slowly.

It could be a multitude of things:

He certainly seems like he doesn't put in the work that truly elite players do in the off-season.

That results in him being overweight, which put added strain on the injury

His mom is his dietician, so he does not eat a diet that is conducive to healing, and also keeps him overweight (see above)

Get that man some milk. He needs some milk, yawl.
